I posted the link to Harry's on skysports interview confirming Gallas is signing, fiinally a few of you are coming around to him,  in the circumstances if we can't get anyone else in, he is a player with a wealth of experience, especially in CL, and we desperately need cover at CB, he can also play LB, or RB apparently.

I think Gallas will be a perfect signing for us...its free for a start which is a bargain for the quality type of player he is....he has experience,he has played against the best and he will be perfect cover for us as we def need it !!

Also from what i have read he is taking a pay cut and only signing a one year deal....and if he plays well then i suppose he will get another deal????

I know he played for the Arse but as soon as ANY player pulls on a Spurs shirt they will get my full support and if they do really well then they will always continue to get my support no matter who they played for !!!

Although I am not overly happy about us signing Gallas, there has been no annoucement yet or any official confirmation. Anybody know why or what's going on ?

Seeing as it's happening I would like to get it over and done with so we can move on and accept him as a Spurs player !!!

Ok accepting that Gallas is signing and is availbale to play everyone is assuming that he is coming as a CB or CB cover.

Am I right in thinking that when he was at Chelski he played LB, does BAE need to be worried ?

Maybe 'Arry might be looking to shake up more than just the CB's at the club...... just a thought !!!

you really are clutching at straws now arent you..

Gallas at havski wa so flaming good that as well as partner that gimp Terry to make him look good, he could also play anywhere else in the back4 incl LB occasionally.... his 2nd position for the last 4yrs tho has been at RB, but he mainly played as a CB the vast majority of games..

Gallas will play at CB for Spurs, as he doesnt have the legs of a 21yr old to run up and down as a fullback week in week out (also we have better fullbacks than he would be)..

Gallas will play as a CB, and Dawson will be the most likely player to get benched (but maybe not immediately)...

apparently he wants the contract to incl. a timeshare on Arry's mansion at Sandbanks in the close-season.... Sandra's having none of it !!

What are you on about 'clutching at straws' Gareth, it's a sensible question to ask, seeing as you being his biggest fan in the whole wide world has said he was that flaming good.

Wind your neck in and try and actually answer a question without mentioning Dawson, Corluka or anything about our lack of pace at the back. I was trying to explore the possibilities that a versatile defender would give us !!!

Maybe Corluka and BAE need to watch out !!!

Oh and what's this lack of legs that Mr Gallas has, surely that's the one thing he was signed for along with his defensive capabilities or are you just contradicting yourself.

youre so obviously confusing speed with stamina..

Gallas still has speed that a top-class CB needs, but he no longer has the stamina at 32yrs to run up and down the right flank for 93mins of a match (very few players even at 25yrs do, as fullbacks need to be the 'marathon-runners' of the team and cover the most ground - well, attacking FBs anyway)..

Gallas will not be asked to cover either fullback position because we have ample specialist-cover in Corluka, Walker, Naughton, even Rose has played LB..... as well as regulars BAE, Bale and Kaboul (my 1st choice RB)..

Gallas will compete most for the rigtside CB role.... that means the end of that slow in thought/movement guy we have there currently...

although he is a gooner, think he might be a good back up player, he has good experience

we need cover as I can't see Woody coming back from another injury and King can only play once a week as a rule so if Daws or Bassong gets injured we have problems and the transfer window is running out, got to trust Harry on this even though Gallas captained the Arse

SPURS FANS, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS GALLAS DEAL WHEN IT GOES THROUGH????
« Reply #40 on: August 21, 2010, 02:44:45 PM »
well , once it goes through, to be honest i think its a very good deal cos , its a free transfer, a very experienced and good cb so i think now woodgate will probably retire he is a very good replacement and i think like redknapp sed if he scores one or two goals, makes some really good tackles the spurs fans will love him , and i agree , i hope he does well because in the end it will just make tottenham better which is what we all want , tell me what you guys think ??

Pretty much agree but his Woolwich Wanderers connections just don't sit comfortable with me but I spose I'll get over it eventually, but the pressure is really gonna be on for him because one mistake or outburst and he will be slaughtered !!!!!

I hated him. But will now judge him on his performances. We need him badly. Could turn out to be a coup for us. Get behind him I say.

I think for that reason and many others that Gallas is a shrewd signing.

He's free, hasn't lost that all important pace and knows how to win. The fact he can cover left back is a bonus. I like the experience he can offer for the Champions league also (should we get throught that is).

Granted he's well travelled in London but I don't think he holds any love for them.

I don't think we should have to see him at left back too often given we have BAE and Bale.
