Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has confirmed his interest in signing Roman Pavlyuchenko from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old striker is fourth-choice for Spurs, behind Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane.
"I would certainly take Pavlyuchenko, but [I don't know] whether we could afford him and whether we could take that step," said McLeish.
"Certainly if the wages were not too outrageous then that would be something that would be reasonably attractive."
McLeish is searching for a striker to fill the void left by injuries to Cameron Jerome and Kevin Phillips, and sees the Russia international, who cost Spurs £14m from Spartak Moscow in September 2008, as an ideal signing.
