It has been apparent for some while that we need new sources of players who are not overrated and overpriced.

Baldini for me is another string to our bow, as it is increasingly difficult in the world market to get the kind of quality that we need whilst competing with half a dozen or so English and European clubs whose billionaire owners see football as some kind of pastime that has no financial boundaries.

Maybe, just maybe Baldini will be instrumental in keeping Bale and AVB for one more season at least.

Ubelievable really, isn't it. I've obviously never seen him play for Spurs, but Kinnear was a great footballer who was with us for ten years between 1965 and 1975, I think these years were one of the best for Spurs.

    Riff,
        I was fortunate enough to see Joe Kinnear play for us, and you are quite right in what you say that they were very successful years during which time he made 258 appearances scored 2 goals for us and represented Eire 26 times, but unfortunately there are people who post on this site, who are either totally ignorant or who have no idea of the history or of the great players that have represented our club, perhaps they should take some time to investigate our history before making such ignorant and misinformed comments about people who played quite a significant part of our history.
        Consider yourselves reprimanded. You are FOOLS, an apology is expected.

Hasn't he retired now because of a heart attack?
He was appointed as the Director of Football at Newcastle United a few days ago.

Yes, I've just heard. I also heard that the fans are not very happy with that appointment.
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

He also had a great managerial run as well. But would his style have suited Spurs?

Sorry Mr Finch no apology from me and you go to far calling us FOOLs as that is becoming personal you my friend are out of order!!!

He may have been a great player for us back before I was born and respect for that, but I dont live in yester year, same as I have zero respect for Hoddle as a manager but worship him as a player.  Kinnear did awesome at Wimbledon but other than that his managerial career has been somewhat of a nose dive and easily forgotten.

And as for joining Fat Ashley, at the sports direct arena or what ever it is called as DOF, I guess the pay was too good to turn down.

Deary me you have spat your dummy out, haven't you?

First of all you have no right to reprimand me, secondly you have no place calling me a fool. Lastly you will have zero chance of recieving an apology, particularly with comments and attitude like that. Who the hell do you think you are? I am neither ignorant of spurs' or the world's history, nor do I lack knowledge. Also, I have a sense of humour. Hence why I made the comment I did. My comment was neither abusive or personal. But based very clearly on the fact that however good he was a player, or okay as a manager, as a potential director of football he would be unwelcomed even at spurs, yet those fans at nufc have been given an unexpected and uninvited bombshell.

So if gazza was made director of football, no jokes are allowed to be made, nope that would be disrespectful because of his time as a player for us. Or how about Sol Campbell?

I respect all people, but that doesn't mean they are exempt from a joke or from criticism.

         Gentlemen,
                         I apologise for calling you fools, I had no right to do that, but it annoys me when people make derogatory comments, albeit in jest, about former players of our great club, especially when they have been great servants during what was a very successful period for the club.

Thank you, I appreciate the apology. Just know that I wasn't ignoring his contribution to our club and wish him well in everything he does. But in regards to the issue of this thread about Franco Baldini, comparing the two situations was worthy of a comment done in jest. It in no way detracts from him as a person, him as a player, or him even as a manager. But the response by the Newcastle fans and his reaction in the media is all rather unfortunate. He has done himself and his reputation only harm I am afraid.

Sol Campbell played well for us when he did. I don't respect him as a person, but I acknowledge his skill as a player. But, let's stick to Baldini, or let this thread wind down.
