I don't think there has been any doubt about the quality that modric possess.  however i think his head has been turned, champions league or not , I see modric asking for a move again this summer unfortunately.

big respect to levy for not buckling to his and Chelsea's  advances last summer. But no doubt all the speculation had a bad impact to the start of last season.

Question we must ask now is do we make the same stance again or cash in and bring in someone else?

My feeling is that Man U might also come in for him. If we make CL and really up his wages, probably to 125 K then there's an outside chance of keeping him.
Whilst I agree he hasn't had a great season, if the players around him were at a better level then he would shine I'm sure.
My one concern is he lacks some composure in front of goal and dosen't score enough goals.
Summing up I would take the 40 mill offer if it comes again. Re-invest in 2 strikers, CH, LB and a right sided midfielder.

Fair enough but what about his ability to track back and defend and his actual goalscorer ability amongst others.

In my opinion for a player of his potential he has switched off in games this season particularly once rumours circulated about his transfer.
Now he is fairly uncommitted to the club making comments about his future after the Euros - I suspect Saturday's result is in the forefront of his mind.

So let him go at an inflated price to one of the Mancs - we have a way to go to catch them as I expect both of them to strengthen their squads big style.

So sell him to one of the 3 teams that finished above us then replace him with the money and buy 2 or 3 other players as well !!!
 
Wow that sure sounds easy....... Not, for one who are you going to replace him with for less than £25million ? two that will leave about £15million to buy 2 strikers and a Centre Back, Vertoghan is about £11million so two strikers for £4 million, get real.
 
The only way forward is to keep Modric, Bale, Walker etc, etc, etc otherwise we will be lucky to get top 10 let alone top 4 and to use there presence at the club to attract players of a similar standard, quality players won't come if you are selling your crown jewels to fund their move !!!

Talk about a misquote.
Letting Modric go to one of the Mancs isn't the same as "the 3 teams above us".

Refurbishing the whole team with the takings is a joke and even with wheeler dealer 'Arry in
his best form probably not possible, hence as I stated use some of the cash for a decent replacement.

What else we need/get is another story!!!

I think we have to be realistic and will be very lucky at the start of next season to have kept
all our best players.
Hopefully they will all still be there but .........
