I would be inclined to agree with the above analagy, that he is undoubtably top class. However, I would sooner lose him than Bale, who for me is far more agressive, and delivers a world class final ball time and again. Unfortunately we dont have a world class striker on the end of it !!
Imagine if we had a young Clive Allen / Gary Linekar playing in the same side as Bale.
Going back to Modric, for sure he would benefit playing in a better team, in the same way as Carrick has, because he would get fractionally more time on the ball, and fractions make all the difference at that level.
Put Modric in any world class midfield and he would hold his own, as would Bale.
