Bit of an under statement really.... we managed to completely bollox up the last 10 games of the season after being 10 points clear and on the coat tails of both the Mancs clubs.

But if you had offered us the chance of being in the race for 3rd by winning our last game at the start of the season then I'm sure, like myself, you would of all jumped at the chance.

As for Baldbloke if you read what he originally argued then the majority has come to pass and only a late rally and some poor performances by our nearest rivals stopped us from finishing 5th or even 6th !!!!

Last season (2010/11) we ran out of steam just after Christmas this season we ran out of steam at the end of February...... at this rate we should be in with a chance in 2015/16. But seriously though we really do need a 25 goal a season top class striker to lead our front line not Adebayor, Saha or Defoe all good strikers but not great strikers then maybe we may well be in with a chance  before 2015/16 !!!!!!!!

5th

Baldbloke, I would like to challenge your continued, but consistent claim that we will finish 5th. If we finish 4th I think you should make a small apology, 3rd a large full written apology detailing how you got it so, so wrong. 2nd and a video posting you on your knees bowing down and begging forgiveness, 1st and I would not care enough to need anything as I would be too ecstatic and no apology would be needed or matter :)

of course if we finish 5th I will apologise, 6th a full letter of apology, 7th or below the video post for me.

Deal?

It is a shame that we did not finish 3rd, we were so close! The worse thing was we had to rely on West Brom to seal it for us and they very nearly did. Baldbloke was only 45 mins from total humiliation. However, we should have had 3rd wrapped up long ago and should not have had to rely on another team.

So baldbloke... remember the challenge I made so long ago? Probably not, as those that think they are never wrong, tend to have very short and selective memories.  :) However you did get one thing right...

No, that's not me, but I can tell you something though. It won't be long before the wheels start coming off the bandwagon, and then I will use these simple words, "I TOLD YOU SO"

The wheels did nearly come off...Phew!

I would have loved to have been able to request a full letter of apology, but we fell just short. Therefore a simple sorry will be enough and we can move on to next year and start it all again with some happy hopes for the future and some light banter or some doom and gloom predictions, whichever takes your fancy?

For your amusement:

Agree with you, 5th

5th

5th

5th

Well, there is nothing like a bit of optimism is there? You may try and say you are being realistic, but on our current form and the way we are playing ending up 5th would mean a dramatic drop in form and results. Yes, we may not be able to keep it up but you are assuming that the other teams around will improve rather than stay as they are or get worse. Newcastle may not have the squad to maintain their current run, Ars* are still hit and miss at the moment, Chelski are still finding their tactics. Liverpool are also hit and miss at present. If we win our game in hand we go above Man U, yes that is right above Man U, this would be unheard of 1, 2, 3....25years!

It may be the hardest season to get into the Champions League, with the number of teams capable of reaching it, rather than the normal top 4. But we also have the best team we have had in many many years. We may not be guaranteed top 4 but we should believe we can do it. Otherwise, what is the point of supporting them, if you are not going to show any support?!!!

5th

So Man Ure have lost away at the Geordies and Citeh are about too lose vital players to the African Cup of Nations, plus both have to play each other in The FA Cup (a draw on Sunday would be nice). Then there's the small matter of the Carling Cup Semi's against the Scousers for Citeh and a game against the form side in the Premier League...... the mighty Tottenham Hotspur. Manure have auditoned their entire squad for an episode of Casualty and seem to have lost the will to live let alone fight for a win in a game, and old man fergie's nose seems to be getting redder than the shirts they wear !!!!

Then we come to Feb and the resumption of the Europa League (Hahahahahahahahah !!!!!, sorry it just tickles me the mighty Manc's are both in the Europa League) which I truly hope that both the Manc sides progress steadily in.

Is this not a senario created in 'Arry's perfect dream of how to win the Premier League, even when we have slipped up slightly the Mighty Manc's have failed to take advantage. The pundits still refuse to tip us for the title saying we are going to slip up at some point, well we seem to be grinding out those results when we are not playing too well and even the players that come in to cover are doing the business.

So is it too early to start dreaming and hoping ...........

 :coys:

5th

There is a way to go yet, but my gut feeling isn't good. This Modders thing may well be creating unrest in the camp. In one sense I want Levy to stick his heals in, and in another I just want to sell Modders for as much as possible and get on with life. I believe that as we stand we are looking at 6th place at very best

Actually I think we ended up 4TH  :)

So for all of us like me who went for 3rd we were only one place out.
Baldbloke who settled for 5th was only one place out as well.
So I'd settle for a draw on this one!

We had a dreadful season, and I was only wrong by a single match. 10 points clear of Ars*nal and given another opportunity to go ahead of them by beating Villa. Knocked out of the Europa league in the group stages, the league cup in our second game and humiliated at Wembley in the semis. If that was your idea of a good season, you have very low expectations.

The extreme low points for me were collapsing against Ars*nal, Man U and Chelsea, as well as the Norwich / Villa games. If Chelsea win CL then I will agree, it will have been a dreadful season.

Whereas, constantly making predictitions of 5th and an occasional 6th demonstrates very high expectations????

Yes, we were only one game away of finishing your 'I am never wrong' 5th but we were also 1 game away from your not in a million years 'send for the white coats' 3rd.

I agree we should have made it certain a lot sooner, but all of the teams have dropped points and gone on a bad run this season. The teams that have dealt best with that are now in the position that reflects that. Hence Ars*nal finished 3rd because they bounced back better than any one (I hate to say). The table does not lie.

Also things are not as bad as you make out. Qualifying for the Champions league (come on Bayern) 2 years out of 3 above a developing man city one year and an experienced chelsea the other is not something we would have dreamed of complaining about 4 years ago. So just enjoy being a spurs supporter for once!

I think you are missing the point. Having finished 4th 2 years ago, and having a great CL campaign, then we fell backwards by finishing 5th last year, due to a collapse after Christmas.
Fast forward 12 months, and we are sitting 3rd, 10 points clear of 4th place, and bingo. Another collapse. Its the manner of our collapses that bothers me. Its all well and good saying a few years ago we would be over the moon with our league position. I think we all know that with the current crop of players, they should have done better than they did. Now we are relying on Chelsea not turning up, for if we don't make CL do you honestly think we will get the players we need to stop another collapse next season ?
Remember the 1st two games this season ? prepare for more of that is my great fear.

How have I missed the point?

I stated clearly that we should have had 3rd spot weeks ago and the way we routinely collapse at some point in our season is the very reason why Baldbloke is mr pessimistic. I get that, I just don't like it!

I would also say that I never thought we would have done as well as we did, considering the lack of signings last year, to help us push on and get back into the champions league. But the truth of the matter is Harry got more from the squad than we could of hoped at times. The run we were on was the best football any of us have seen us play...period (some of the golden oldies may remember better but not me.) I think we should celebrate our qualities rather than continually moaning. Am I right or did we just get 4th spot, you know that position we went ballistic at only 2 years ago. Did you expect us to just win the title next? or do you think that having some consistency shows that we have quality and we are learning all the time.

Yes we did collapse again. I wish it was not so, but had we carried on playing like we were we could have been champions. The collapse happened a lot later in the season than previous years and we did begin to bounce back from it. I think that we need to keep the faith, keep building a stronger squad (those top quality players we keep hoping for but never arrive) could be the key to greater success. It will be extremely hard to challenge manchester X2 but we are not that far away.

So if I have missed the point it must be because you have either not explained it well enough, or there is no point to miss.
Maybe next year...
