Do we need to bring in another CB in the summer?

Imo we DONT, we have King and Dawsome who are both quality, Rocha, Dervitte, C.Lee and Gardener AND Hudd as back up. Thats fine.

We were just unfortunate today because Dervitte and Hud are injured.

Rocha is good enough, he just hasn't shone, but hasn't done much wrong apart from a misjudged header against the scum in the Carling semi's.

Also the fact Y.P.Lee isn't playing effects our defence, his influence goes unnoticed.

King
Dawsome
Dervitte
C. Lee
Rocha
Hudd
Gardener

Enough CB's for me thanks, though others seem to think otherwise...?

I agree. I cannot see why we sold Daveport personally who was doing very well.

I do not think wasting 8 million on someone like Davies who will sit on the bench is worth it. Use the money for a LM, CM or striker. As you said we are just unfortaute with injuries. Gardner is adequate cover and Dervitte looks quality. I don't rate Rocha whatsoever but even so we have enough cover.

So all those who criticized YP Lee in an earlier thread - what do you say now?
I think we miss him BADLY, especially when he goes forward - he gives us much more width & pace on the left.

I seriously can't undertsand how some of u view gardner as adequate cover for CB, i wouldnt even consider putting him in my sunday league team.
Rochas ok but i dont think good enough for the english league, and i think your forgetting how likely and often it is that our 'cover CBs' have to play for large parts of the season becuase king has ongoing injury problems so therefore we need some1 good enough to maintain the same level as king would do and if you lot are saying we should keep the same defenders as weve had this season then we're still going to be conceeding goal after goal next season so thatsa not going to get us far.

so i think its a bit strange how 1 of u said we shouldnt waste money on buying a quality CB, when our defence has been our main problem this season.... pretty weird thing to say.

I agree, Gardner is not going to get any better, he has a couple of good games and then fall's apart.

Rocha is still adjusting to the pace of the premiership, although he used play full back at Benfica not CB!

Despite King's apperance in the Seville game there is still a big question with regard to his fitness (Did not make the Wigan game) therefore I think we still need another CB

We need a left footed centre back that can handle playing as left back and in the middle, someone with experience, maybe about 26 - 29 and that is quick and not afraid in the air.

Some defensive organisation at the back and better marking would also tighten things up.

Our defense has been a problem for most of the season.  We do look more solid with Dawson and King in the side, but with doubts over king's fitness, there is an opportunity to strengthen this area.  What we need is an experienced enforcer, someone that would organise the back four and terrorise attacking strikers.:gun4:
