Defoe - Will it ever get better?

The poor lad hasn't had much luck recently in my opinion, Nugent nicking his goal against Andorra then spouting bollocks about how it can give motivation too other Championship players, then today he had a perfectly good goal disallowed then missed an absolute sitter.

I believe hes just in a bad rut at the moment and with the fixture congestion coming up next week I think Jol will give him more than a decent chance especially against Wigan and Chelsea to prove himself.

You thoughts?

yeah that nugent really wound me up. my dad was saying defoe wont care all that much but i think he will. defoe is a player besed on form and confidence and he willl look at that as no goals in to games when it should be 2 goals in 20 mins.
i wanna see defoe and berba against seville

I personally rate Defoe over Keane, due to Defoes pure finishing ability. 9 out of 10 times he will score and he looks sharp atm. I want to see him in the Sevilla 1st leg as his pace will hurt them on the counter.

i like Defoe aswell, personally i don't want him to leave in the summer but i think he will.

i really think he need more first team football though. even know Keane is great i think Defoe has more goals in him over a season, and if Defoe and Berbatov linked up as well as Keane and berbs, i think the pair of them could get 40+ goals between them.

but you never know what goes on behind the seen, Berbatov might of said he prefers playing with Keane, and if that is the case Defoe will have no chance

We've seen Berbatov work well with both strikers, it would be a real shame if Berbs said something like that, but if he and Keane have got an understanding then it can only be good for the team.

I know Sevilla are second / joint first whatever in La Liga, but what are they actually like as a side? I mean take Braga, 4th in the porugese league, beaten Porto and Benfica I believe this season yet we did them, know what I mean?

Its gonna be tough, but we can beat them. Defoe will get his chance again before the end of the season, no doubt about it.

One thing i think people are forgetting (not saying you Powerage)

is that the Prem is the best/hardest league in the world. im not saying Seville will be a push over but, i can garentee you seville did not want to play Us at this stage in the competition.

If we was in the spanish League with the squad we have got now, i think we could be pushing for the title as well.

there one thing with the spanish league i always notice is that, one season a surprise team dose well and then the next season that drop off

This year: Sevilla
Last Year: Villarreal
04/05: Bilboa
and i remember one season Real Sociedad winning the title not to long ago

that'sjust off the top of my head

Personally i don't think Seville are a better team than us and i think we should come away with the win

I like Defoe as a player too and would be gutted if we sell him. He's been looking very sharpe recently and personally I would like to see him have a good run in the team. Keane's been looking out of sorts in the last fewe games but still scoring goals so it's a hard decision for Jol to make. But with the amount of games we will be playing this week he will get a chance.

BTW Real Sociedad didn't win the title that year (2002/03) they came second behind Real Madrid. Deportivo did win the title in 2000, only one out of the Big 3 to win it over the last 10 years.

When Defoes on song, hes imo one of the best finishers I've seen. But his downside is that his fuel if you like is confidence, which is probably why having a goal stollen from that git, and having a perfectly good goal ruled offside, made him flop his chance.

He's a top class player, and we'll see it again soon.

I watched their game with Osansuna (or whatever they're called ) on sunday night and cant say I was very impressed. I think our pace will be hard for them to handle the left back was a bit slow and the defence as a whole didn't look very well organised. Having said that the game ended 0-0 and the weather was atrocious so I maybe judging them unfairly

sevilla are an amazing side. Won't be easy. 1-0 to them or 1-1 draw.
I used to think that being lazy was bad for me .......  So I gave up thinking

Sevilla are good, but beatable.  Maybe we could play all three strikers and put Keane in the hole to terrify their defence.

defoe needs a regular slot in the first team, he wont get that at spurs. For his sake I hope he moves on. But we will regret it
