Sevilla sporting director Ramon Rodriguez admits Tottenham pose a major threat to his side's defence of the Uefa Cup.

Rodriguez watched Spurs' FA Cup replay defeat against Chelsea, and although Martin Jol's side lost he was impressed with what he saw.

"Tottenham are not a typical English side. They always try to pass the ball around - even coming out of defence - without hitting long balls," Rodriguez told local paper Diario de Sevilla.

"They are also devilishly quick in midfield and attack.

"In midfield and attack they have a lot of quality, Robbie Keane, (Dimitar) Berbatov, (Jermain) Defoe - with a lot of class and goals.

"In fact, even the full-backs, Lee (Young-Pyo) and (Pascal) Chimbonda, are attack-minded."

However, the former Sevilla goalkeeper claims Berbatov could be the main threat.

"Berbatov is an excellent striker. When he has the ball at his feet, he is extremely dangerous and can punish you in an instant," he added.

"Spurs are not bad defensively; it is just that in attack they are very good.

"They have let in 43 goals in the league, which is a little surprising, but you have to remember that they have played eight times in the Uefa Cup this season and have won every time, which is an impressive statistic."

Meanwhile, Sevilla coach Juande Ramos has issued a rallying call to his club's supporters ahead of Thursday's clash.

Ramos fears a combination of Sevilla's success in last year's competition, combined with a major religious festival in the city, may have made some fans apathetic towards the match.

"I would say to the fans that if they want to have an experience as good as last year, now is the moment to help and support," he explained.

"We cannot waste home advantage and when we have the help of the fans we are a tough and solid team.

"We need them because the opponents which we have to face requires the efforts of the team and the fans together."

They're running scared. Nah, its good they're acknowledging our quailty though.

He didn't watch the Chelsea Quater Final at the lane then haha.

I tend too ignore stuff like this because its just mind games, I know they are complimenting us but you know, back in Sevilla they are gonna be as up for it as we are, especially as they are the current holders and they will be making plans for our key men too be removed from the game.
