I'll never forget Ralph Coates. I was at Wembley the day he scored the only goal when we beat Norwich to win the League Cup. The 1st time I saw us win something in the flesh. I was only 12 and those memories stay with you forever. Condolences to his friends and family. R.I.P.

 :(  A geat player, part of a great team. I too remember that Wembley final.
Coates was an arrival into the first Spurs team i supported and the players in that squad are all immortal to me. That one has passed is shattering.

Now that I reflect, i remember seeing Coates play on at least 3 occasions. Once at the Lane [end of 74] 2-1 defeat at the hands of QPR and a week later at Upton Park for a Boxing Day draw.
The third time was in Wellington , down here in NZ, during Spurs tour in 1976. I actually got caught jumping the fence at that one. Friendly security guard just told me to grow up and pay entry like everyone else. I did and Spurs won 3-2
