Our Right Side
« on: October 23, 2010, 03:12:38 PM »
What has gone wrong with our right side? Against Everton and Inter, anything worthwhile came from the left. Is Bentley really so poor that he can't get a run? Yes I know the cross came from the right for our goal but it was a lucky knock back across. Getting back to my point, Lennon did very little in both games. Hutton does not attack as well as Corluka(spelling?). Surely Krancie and Corl... deserve a run. We can't just rely on VDV, Modric and Bale.

By the way, was the referee rubbish tonight or am I suffering from White blindness?

Personally I though our right side did OK today, Hutton supplied the cross for our goal and several other decent crosses. Lennon wasn't his old self but better than the last few outings, I though Bale was quiet today but no surprise there after Wednesday.

As for the ref at times I thought Everton were playing Rugby and the ref just seemed to ignore it!!!

Everton were dirty and the ref was terrible! I have given up on Bentley, hes a nice guy when i met him and i thought it was a good buy from Blackburn but it was never meant to be, i reckon he will be sold soon.

I feel since the emergence of bale our team has become a little unbalanced and lennon isnt fed the ball or utilised enough. There was a time when everything went through him and he was an excellent outlet for us providing blistering attacks at speed. also with crouch in the team (who ithought was shocking yesterday) our other strategy is the long high ball towards him especially in times of desperation, see last 15 mins of everton game. It something that needs to be addresses as a team with bale and lennon firing on all cylinders from the flanks would prove devastating and is well within the team capabilities especially with modric and now van der vaart providing for them.

sort it out arry

Lennon doesnt as yet seem totally match fit (this includes form IMO), we do as already pointed out seem to rely heavily on Bale the man of the moment.

Others should be used on the right until Lennons is back to his full playing ability then unleash a balanced paced attack from both our flanks.  I wouldnt mind to see bently given a shot he started to perfom last season and showed he could be useful.

As Crouch was mentioned I have to add this, everytime I see him in our line up my heart sinks, he is the most ineffective striker we have useless with feet and head and most defenders out muscle him and have him in their pocket, and our tactics when we play this lemon makes us predicable and easy to play against, plus shyte to watch.  Crouch isnt good enough to be part of a strike team let alone the main point man, he is no natural predator or goal poucher.  Why did we buy him back after getting shot of him once before.

Crouch was shocking yesterday, he can hold the ball up well and lay it off but his eye for goal is terrible and some of his attempts i would have backed Gomes to do better in front of goal than him. I wouldnt sell him in January though.

Defoe needs to hurry up and get fit. I don't think we should sell Crouch, but sometimes it's very frustrating watching him play. I don't like the way we play sometimes when he's in the team. When he was put through on goal against Everton and he just passed the ball to Tim Howard, I was furious. Defoe would have scored there or at least troubled the keeper.

Also regarding our right side, I think we need to buy a right back. Hutton isn't good enough defensively and Corluka isn't fast enough to go forward without leaving us exposed at the back. I'm not entirely sure who I'd want to see us bring in, but I don't think Hutton or Corluka should be our first choice right back.

I think that once all our CB's are fit we will probably play Kaboul there as Corluka seems to have gone missing and as you say Hutton is a bit suspect at times, but we would have Hutton as cover.

Kaboul at RB ????, Kaboul is handy going forward, and seems to love going forward so much so many of us used to think a defensive mid position would suit him and us better, he used to pop up with the odd goal every now and again but surely his defensive qualities are no better than Hutton, unless he has improved loads?

Corluka is just having a bad patch I rate him and think he is class he has been solid the last few seasons, form is only temporary!

I think Hutton has proven many people wrong. He has been a good attacking full back for us this season and as he has more pace than Čorluka, he offers something else. Čorluka is a better defender though... Hard choices, eh...
