But Spurs executive director Paul Barber has moved to head off any criticism of the decision by outlining the reasons for the hike.

"We are not ripping our fans off," Barber told the Evening Standard.

"If we want to build for the future - which involves investing in the team, building a new training ground and academy, either improving or moving from White Hart Lane - we have to make sure our finances are in place to achieve this because we could be talking about a lot of money.

"The average price increase works out at

In a season it can range from 40-55 quid.

Our prices are ridiculously high anyway, but due to our small capacity we unfortuately have to :(

I think it is such a shame that WHL cannot be hugely redeveloped. I think moving would be good financially but we will loose the tradition of WHL.

Greedy bastards.

It wont make a big difference for Spurs...

But WILL make a big difference to season ticket holders financially.

Whats the point? Theyre getting huge TV money this year anyway.

I agree with TheoSpurs,

Whilst I understand now we are on the cusp of getting somewhere generating more revenue is important but prices and membership is a bit much to ask.

Ultimately it still all comes down to footballers being overpaid and us funding their lifestyles.
There be dragons

You hit the nail on the head there Gino, the players are getting payed way too much. But thats the price you have to pay these days to get the best players. It's a catch-22 situation.

It is due to the size of our stadium in comparison to our rivals.

You look at Newcastle, Liverpool, Gooners, Villa etc all much big stadiums = more match day revenue. We need this cash to compete.
