I'm seeing signs in the States that the popularity of Premier League football is growing by leaps and bounds. Spurs are getting a fair amount of exposure on ESPN2 and Fox Soccer Channel. The NYC Soccer Challenge will provide another opportunity to put the Spurs in front of the nation. My peer group has been discussing the latest football transfers in Europe more than the upcoming American football season - which is completely unprecedented. There seems to be a backlash against the media machine of American sport. During my latest visit home to Tampa, Florida, I noticed that a neighbor on my parents' street had added Tottenham Hotspur decals and flags to his SUV. While wearing my Spurs home jersey around the city of Atlanta, I receive a surprising amount of recognition from fans who are dying to talk football - or declare their closeted admiration for Ars*nal - lol. I believe Spurs are gaining in popularity in the US because they are viewed here as the anti-UNITED.
