It's how we respond
« on: April 03, 2010, 09:40:02 PM »
As always with Tottenham we have our ups and of the down's this season, the 9-1 victory over Wigan and the second half display against Fulham in the FA Cup Quarter-Final spring to mind. Unfortunately the lows include humiliating defeats at the hands of our arch rivals Ars*nal as well as two surprising defeats to relegation battlers Wolves.

I would probably add today’s result to the list of "downs" this season that coupled with our rivals for the last Champions League spot, Man City and Aston Villa both winning. City humbled hapless Burnley 6-1 in the end, and Villa nicked a 1-0 away at Bolton. So it’s safe to say today was one to forget as a Spurs fan!

What happened today happened and we can say that’s football. We can shout and moan at the telly tonight on MOTD or criticise Redknapp for playing Palacios when he's on the brink of a ban etc etc but with four massive games coming up it how we respond to this defeat and kick on, we are still very much in the hunt for this 4th place and I know Redknapp will have us battling to the death. Something we are renowned for until Harry got hold of the team. He has installed a both a mental and physical toughness we never used to associated with.

It all starts with a fantastic trip to Wembley next Sunday to face Portsmouth in a game we can win. We probably got the easier Semi-Final draw it has to be said but that remains to be seen. Harry and the playing staff have to pick themselves up after today, we can’t dwell on the loss, but get back in training and start looking forward to weekend and get back to winning ways straight away. The Cup tie could well be used as game for us to get back to where we were mentally. If we can win with a good performance (and I think we certainly can) that will give the team the confidence going in to the derby three days later and anything can happen in derbies. We'll need no motivation to get a result against our most fearsome rivals and like us they have big players missing at the moment.

So if we get the right response come Sunday then we can take that priceless confidence into the 3 big games to follow, tie that together with the news Lennon is back running in training, King is on the mend and Huddlestone and Dawson should be back sooner rather than later, we could well spring a surprise in the title race as well as give our own Champions League aspirations a much needed boost in what is an extremely exciting (nervous) final few weeks to what has been a great season for us.

Keep the faith.

I couldnt have put it any better mate, we need to keep the faith! This has been one of our most exicting seasons yet of recent years and it still has many twists and turns i feel but hopefully they are twists for the better. We have a great day out at wembley on sunday to look forward to even though pompey will be well up for it i feel we will bounce back from yesterday with a great spirited performance. Many spurs fans have the mentality of always awaiting around the corner of being let down, and that does happen alot with us but we have some great games to look forward to, injury returns and 4th place and a cup to win so lets get behind the boys!

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

I think will finish 6th or 7th, we have the hardest run in and we'll have to be at the top of our game to beat chelsea in the final... if we get there....im sure we will

Yeah well said mate. I won't lie, i get so frustrated when spurs get beaten by teams we should really be beating on paper, but thats football i suppose. I also realise that i shouldnt be quick to critise when i'm only watching, or listening on the radio, because i'm not seeing what other supporters are seeing week in week out, due to the fact that me and my mate can't get tickets as regulary as we would like ( i'm not bitter honest! ), in fact we can never get bleeding tickets!!!
Like i said in my message re the defeat at sunderland, i honestly feel that if we can get our injured players back for the remainder of the season, it could well turn back in our favour big time. Yes, we have probably the most crucial, and difficult run of games coming up, but we're tottenham, everybody has already written us off after saturday......... we'll see !!

I appreciate your opinions guys; after all, this is what this site is for!

I would like to know if your predictions were based before or after the Sunderland defeat, has the result changed your opinions on where we are to finish and if we can lift the FA Cup now?

The way I see it, starting with the league. Yes we have some big tough games, but so do Manchester City, remember they still have to play Manchester United at home with Rooney probably returning and also Ars*nal away. These two games alone I can see them dropping crucial points. The real cliff hanger comes down to our game at City. A game we can definitely win. I believe this because we have an excellent record against City at Eastlands over recent years, so I can see us getting the job done there. Liverpool at home look ok and will beat teams to keep them in and around the hunt, there key games is Chelsea at home and maybe Hull away. For me Liverpool have to win ALL their remaining games. Yes they probably/possibly have the easiest run in but as we saw on Sunday, away from home they look particularly iffy.  I just can’t see them sustaining the challenge in the closing weeks.

The FA Cup however, (I believe we’ll beat Pompey fairly comfortably and Chelsea will do the same to Villa) So Spurs v Chelsea( in my opinion) will be left contesting for the greatest most prestigious domestic club trophy in England. Will we win the game? And can we win the game? Two very different questions but potentially with one answer .Yes of course we can!
On our day we can beat anyone and Chelsea have been beaten by some average teams this season so I remain VERY optimistic.

I said before the season even started, that we're not a top 4 team. Its free speech I can say what ever I like.

As I said I like reading peoples views on out spurs. And I would have to agree on the fact at the beginning of the season we weren't a top 4 side.

Since then and Liverpool's decline has given us the opportunity to steal the last CL place

I strongly believe we can do it. On paper our squad is extremely strong on strength and depth. If we had a full squad to choose from i'd say we are top 4 material.

Dont get me wrong Id like to see us get 4th, just dont think we have it in us yet. We are not far away for beening that 4th place team.

Ask me again after the Arse game, then I might have changed my mind. Depands if we get the win.  :D

Cheers

On sunday we need Fulham and Birminghamto pull something out the bag and do us a big favour. Liverpool host Fulham and if they win will go level on points with us but we have a better goal difference and if Man City can beat Birmingham at home they will go 4 points clear on 62 points which is a gap we will have to close with something against the scum on wednesday night.
