A few interesting team choices here....but this is the truth:

Current best Team.

------------Robbo
Chim, Dawson, Kaboul,Ekotto
Lennon, Hudd, Jenas, Bale
----------Berb, Bent

*

2 years time:

-------------Cerny
Chim, Dawson, Kaboul, Berniche
Lennon, Taarabt, Boateng, Bale
---------Berbatov, Bent

*

And tbh, i can't wait until 2 years time

*this is assuming King is injured, and Berbatov is still here!

I agree with Dims selection atm.

I dont know about the rest of you but I havent seen KPB play at all so to say he is better then what we have atm is laughable.

Adel isnt ready for regular football atm, and Bale is fine at LW.

I can't really see how its laughable ? the guy won young player of the year in germany, have played UEFA cup football and recent resevers performances have been brilliant.

its not laughable, its just optimism from the fans

German fans on other forums dont rate him.

I could do well in our reserves, I just think untill we see him perform in the Prem we cant say he is better then Jenas or Hudd or Zok.

Lee Barnard scores tons in the ressies, nowhere near good enough for us.

Same was said of Neil Mellor when he hit 35+ every season for Liverpool.

i'm not sure why thudd is in so many people's best team - he's a real uxury player from what i've seen - needs a top class defensive midfielder to cover for him, boateng a complete unknown, zokora and jenas dont fit well together - hate to say it but my best central midfield would be jenas plus one decent partner - we wont see the best of jenas until then

I think everyone is missing the point - 11 great players doesn't necessarily make a great team.
It's the structure and discipline of the players that make a winning combination ie Greece in Euro 2000 or Reading last year

Imo the attitude of the players is wrong,I was always taught to play every game as if it was a cup final.
"I swear by almighty God
to be a yid,a whole yid and nothing but a yid
I promise to raise my kids in the way of the yiddo
and protect them from the evil in red"

To be fair, whoever plays in defence or midfield is much of a muchness, the key is we find the best partner for Berbatov who is our only world class player. That striking position is up for grabs, and wide open between Defoe and Bent after keanes blank start to the season. Whoever scores first and gets on a run, should stay there. Our defence will improve once Dawson and Kabould have played few games together. I thought Hudd steeped up his game and put himself about a bit more against Ars*nal, so he should for his size. He just need to make sure he protects our back for if his run in the team continues.

I think a few people have read this thead wrong. Just to qualify this thread, it is not the best team we can put out now, or next game - the point was given our current squad of players, even with them all fit and playing well, I still don't think our best team can make and hold 4th spot in this years EPL. In other words, as the title of this thread said, lets get our heads out of the sand, we are not a 4th place contender, and all this is doing is putting pressure on the players, and management - lets concentrate on building a squad over the next couple of years to really challenge for the 4th maybe 3rd spot. But at the moment, just be happy with 5th and a cup - PLEASE!
