Spurs 4 Monaco 1

Even though I put down a victory for this game, I wasn't really too sure how it would go. We knew that he would rest a lot of players and we also knew that Monaco had to win. But what happened was that we thrashed and out played them with our second string (almost).

Lamela scored his first hat-trick. I think an extended contract is now due. And Carroll got his first goal.

Tottenham team that started without the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, but Spurs still had enough firepower to blast them out of White Hart Lane. Spurs now have only lost two games in 21 games. The best goal of the night was the cool finish applied by Carroll.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: "I'm very happy, job done and first in the group. I'm proud of them and we showed we have a very strong squad.

"It's fantastic for Lamela and a great moment for him. From the start of the season he's showing improvement and consistency.

"Joshua Onomah deserved it for how he trains and develops his game. He's a great talent from the academy."

And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

Good result, good team effort. It seems we are growing with every match. Even our younger players did well. I thought we would get a draw because we were already through. We now have to face the team that beat Liverpool on Sunday. This won't be an easy match. :hide:

I am glad we've got a home game in the FA Cup, but that won't be an easy match either. :up:

Just a matter of interest. When Ali came on - as the last sub - I noticed that Townsend was furious and angrily got back into his seat. I think he will be gone in the January sales. If he had a long term future then Pochettino would have played him.

After this match, against Monaco, I have confidence that if we have injuries we have players to take their place. This was an excellent performance. All put a few minutes we dominated and deserved our victory. Now next, the next round. I believe we can go all the way in this competition. I think we had about 70% of the match.

Tottenham have an interesting next round match. The Monaco games shows that we are growing and getting better in Europe. A well deserved win, and with new players added to the pot (from the squad). An interesting tie in the FA cup round against Leicester, and we are at home.

I am looking forward to their next Europa match. It would be great if we can progress all the way. But there are some tough opposition to the final. Monaco was a good result :up:, what followed wasn't. :hide:
