The Dimitar Berbatov Appreciation Thread.

Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov can go into Thursday's UEFA Cup clash with Seville full of confidence, cheered by the news that he has been named Fans' Player of the Month for March by givemefootball readers.

The Bulgarian has grown in stature as the season has gone on, and is now a firm favourite with the White Hart Lane faithful.

Berbatov was the two-goal hero of the victory over Braga in the last round, and during the month he was also on target against Chelsea and West Ham. The games continue to come thick and fast, but 'Berb' is showing no signs of flagging in his first season in the Premiership.

"It is hard to keep going with games coming so quickly but the team support each other," Berbatov said after Sunday's win over Reading. "We've a good spirit, the gaffer tells us the team is the important thing."

Martin Jol's Spurs moved up to sixth place in the Premiership - and into the frame for qualifying for next season's UEFA Cup, with their win over the Royals. "With the busy schedule we have it was important to win against Reading," added Berbatov. "We had many opportunities to score more and in the end were perhaps lucky to get three points. We may have to practice our shooting in training this week."

Berbatov insists it is the team ethic at Spurs that has helped him quickly come to terms with the rigours of the Premiership, while other big-name imports have struggled to instantly adapt. "The team treats me so well and makes chances to help me relax and do my job," he added. "My record in the UEFA Cup is good too and hopefully I can continue that because we want to go all the way to the final.

"It will be difficult in Spain on Thursday because Sevilla are a good team and play very good technical football. But if we can take our chances then a goal or two out there will be very good for us. That will be difficult but I am an optimist and hope we can do that. We will see what we do on Thursday and then see what Chelsea brings. If we win in Spain then our self-esteem is going to be up but we can't talk about Chelsea until we have played Sevilla."

Definately well deserved, looked a bit off Saturday, but he's due a day off aint he? :D

Expect the Sevilla game to be tough but we have nothing to fear.

A few more goals, seasons and some trophies will cement his legend, thats why we need him too stay.

I just hope he wants too stay at Spurs, but another crack at the champions league may tempt him away eventually.

you can tell he dosent want to stay

HAHA! The only thing I'll appreciate about him is the cash we will receive. KACHING.
Anyone who saw the game will see that with our new system we don't need him at all and, infact, we worked better without him. He wasn't in the game at all and looks so bad at the moment..please cash in!
Anyway, what a mint game it was today! :D

Georginho, you're a hater :(.

You know you are just gonna feel strange when he stays and make you eat your hat. Anyway, I am sure that you'll enjoy it being proved wrong, so I won't hold it against you ;)
