They've Really Done It This Time!
Non-League Paper
First it was 2-0 against Shrewsbury. Then it was 3-0 against Chesterfield. Now, they've gone and bumped off a team in the first tier of another nation's league! Motherwell was the latest victim of the unprecedented hot streak by brand-new club Spurs Network FC. Despite the absence of Canadian captain DC76, they were still playing to their early standard.
The same Canadian was seen in the stands among the small, but quickly growing SNFC fanbase, and we managed to catch up with him for an interview after the match.
"As if I'm gonna sit around and do nothing when my team is playing!" he remarked. "What kinda captain would that make me? If I'm not playing, I'll be in the stands cheering for them, end of story!"
He had nothing but praise for his teammates.
"Of course they're going to get shots in, they're a first-tier team, after all! But our defence was solid enough to keep the shots on target down to three, and our goalkeeping was good enough to turn aside every last one of them, plus our offence was creating chances - it could have been a much more one-sided effort if not for a stubborn Motherwell team! And what about that Lady of the Lane? She only gets two chances in the entire game, but one of them goes in and the other was quality as well! I gather if she'd gotten more, she'd've scored more, too. And Hustle sure lived up to his name - he was in the defence's face the whole time he was on. Fun stuff to watch!"
When asked about the disallowed goal, he had this to say:
"Good decision, and not just because it went my team's way. You shoulda heard me. I was up there screaming my throat dry, like 'OFFSIDE! OFFSIDE! HE'S OFFSIDE!!' and the flag was already up, it was just a late whistle. I think the fans knew it, too - their response was a wee bit subdued for a 'goal.'"
