I am not sure we were in a healthy position before that shambles. I was going to respond before the Liverpool farcical saying how I didn't want Jol sacked, I didn't want Redknapp sacked and I didn't want AVB sacked either. The reason we were not in a healthy position (regardless of points) was the lack of attack, as you rightly pointed out. There just is not guile, creativity or potency in attack. Everything is too slow and our defensive failings are not due to the quality of the defenders but the tactics employed which leave us vulnerable against any side with a smidgen of quality.
Losing by that kind of margin with nothing in response not even a shot on target has sent alarm bells ringing. But still I will not ask for his sacking...yet! For me AVB has one more chance and he had better take it. He needs to change his approach and find a way to create a team rather than trying to make his team fit around his ideas. Ditch his formation and play 2 or 3 up front, allow the defensive to fall further back, crteating space in front of them which they can move into and approach the attacking players, thereby have more awareness of where the attacks are coming from as well as time to adjust position. This will need the defensive midfielder to break up many attacks before they arrive and give us a platform to attack with pace and from a higher position in the pitch when we do win it back.
Teams are simply not frightened of us, why would they be? You may not have liked Redknapp but we had no fear, played with freedom and expression and teams were extremely wary of us, not knowing what was going to happen next or where the attack was coming from. Today we are predictable and easy to break down.
Last chance AVB, last chance indeed!!!
