Martin Jol explained that he didn't want to play Ledley King twice in three days at Wigan after the skipper's return against Sevilla on Thursday.

Instead, Ricardo Rocha, available again after being ineligible for the UEFA Cup, came back into the side alongside Michael Dawson in central defence for the Premiership clash at the JJB.

The return leg against Sevilla last week marked Ledley's first appearance since Boxing Day after foot trouble.

"I couldn't take a risk with him playing twice in three days because he still had a bit of pain on Thursday," reported Martin after the 3-3 draw. "I would have liked him to have played but it was better not to."

I trust Jol and happy he isnt risking him, 2 games in 3 days is asking far too much from a player who has been out for 4 months. I reckon Jol also rested him because of the small matter of the N.London derby. He will def play in that.

I tottaly agree with Jol and knew king wasn't going to play and why. i think another reason why is because he wants him to play against arse-holes

Yeah like I said, the Ars*nal game was a big factor in Jols decision.

Rumours about ledley's long term fitness are all over the web, I think that Jol is picking the games where Kings presence will make a big difference, such as next saturday.  I do not expect Ledley to be at WHL next season

He will be with us next season, if his injuries were that bad surely the club would have told the fans.

Cant see why he wont be with us next season tbh. if youre implying its because of his long term fitness then im sure potential buyers arent going to be naive and give him a full checkover before buying.

Yeh im sure he'll play saturday too
