I disagree with almost everything you have said. Regretfully you appear to be like most people on here and just want the bragging rights.

Regretfully, you are making a huge assumption. 1.) That I am like most people on here and 2.) That most people on here just want bragging rights. Both of which are wrong and inaccurate. Where in my comments did I give the impression I wanted to brag about anything. Bragging has never been something that I find appealing. I would like the opportunity to be proud of my club and want what is best for them. I do not want the stadium to be built for financial reasons, even those these are compelling, but because larger stadium = more fans able to support the team = having the finances within the financial fair play to feasibly have some of the better players within our means = having a better chance of success = more enjoyment and the ability to appeal to the next generation of fans. Rather than standing still and doing nothing in an old stadium that is not that great and does not do our great team justice. We are a successful team in many ways and I would like the opportunity for this to continue.

I am disappointed with your response as I would hope that you would be able to justify your points, rather than repeating yourself and only saying IMO statements. Which are rather negative towards the majority of spurs fans and do not show much optimism for the future!
Maybe next year...

By almost any measure Tottenham Hotspur is one of the top 12 football clubs in the world. Of that group we have the smallest stadium by far. Having said that I do not support any relocation away from Tottenham and am concerned about how the proposed project would ultimately affect the culture of the club. Let me repost a statement I made on another forum here:

Bottom line -- progress for THFC does not lie in a stadium that is anathema to everything that is Spurs. Tottenham's IDENTITY is the draw. The progress you seek is already occurring. Glory must be earned it cannot be purchased. Tottenham Hotspur is modern football counter-culture. The fans love the club with the tribal passion of pure sport and are part of a much larger Spurs community. No one supports Tottenham for an opportunistic chance to win hollow championships.

..."even failure will have it an echo of Glory". Exactly that. Success is fleeting, but the STORY...now that's the stuff of legends. I follow this club from 5000 miles away because of what it represents. Please don't change a thing.
He's strained his left adductor muscle it says. Whats that then ? Do we all have those or just footballers ? I wonder how mine are ? *courtesy of taimedowne*

Absolutely, and well said. Let's not change a thing. Well until it's the right time anyway !!

Wilson Jet has worded things very well after your last post.

I am sorry that I have to repeat my posts, however people don't appear to read them properly. Building a new stadium in the hope we will be better is an enormous risk. I believe we need to establish ourselves as a CL club for at least 4 seasons before we take what is still a big risk. If we don't achieve this we only have two realistic options if we go ahead and build the proposed monstrosity. Build it and almost give the tickets away to fill it, or hope that we attract some oil rich billionaire. If the former happens we go broke, if the latter happens Spurs can have my season ticket back, as I have no wish to support a team like Chelski or Man Citeh !!

Yes I am negative towards most Spurs fans, but that isn't because they are Spurs fans, it's because few of them understand business (like most football supporters). The common perception is that increased revenue will increase the spending on playing staff, and thus success. In realty this is complete rubbish. Any additional revenue for the first ten years at least will be pumped into feeding the dept. I agree with your sentiment that any expansion of the stadium has to go hand in hand with the development of the squad, however in the real world that just isn't possible, and that's why in the history of football it has NEVER happened before.

I am not against the proposal of a bigger stadium, it just needs to be at the right time, and in my opinion we are light years away from it !!

I'd rather no switch, WHL is the home of the yids, its got its foibles yes (especially the gret poles holding up half the roof) but thats part of the overall charm of the spurs. Plus the turf itself its one of the best in the league, having won a couple of awards (though the dates escape me, anyone any ideas?).

I say stay and spend less cash on some improvements to the stadium itself and the local area, was on a tour of the stadium a few weeks ago and the guide rightly pointed out if spurs go, the tottenham area's pretty much dead in the water..

Definately a stay for me. N17 is N17.
What has changed over the last 20 years to warrant a new stadium except that its aged 20 years  of course.

One thing that I guess has changed is the corporate image and football has become more of
a business. Saturday afternoons were match days but look at when the games are now being played
for the tv rights.
As rightly pointed out we are looking down the road for a completed development.
Sit tight and enjoy I say.

So are you saying that if we had a new stadium, we wouldn't fill it for most of the premiership, cup and European games? Only reaching capacity for the top sides?

Without question we would fill it for a handful of games, and even then it would depend on when Sky made us play the games. Games against teams like Wigan and Blackburn would leave waves of empty seats unless the prices were reduced so low it wouldn't justify the re-build anyway. Europa cup games, League cup games and FA cup games played on a Sunday would leave the ground half empty. Many Spurs supporters believe we have a far bigger ACTIVE support than we really do. To  be fair Ars*nal have a far bigger fan base than us and even they are struggling to sell tickets.

once spurs have the bigger stadium with higher revenue being made they will buy stronger players which will keep us consistently near the top and then all the fair weather fans will come out and fill the stadium. tadaaa

No, mate, once the stadium has been built we will spend the next ten years paying for it. There will not be enough money to buy an ice cream let along bigger players.

I would say that we are at our most succesful time for 20 years or so. Down to 2 things. Redknap, and Levy, for getting Redknap, and not selling Modric ( yet ) and going forwards we have to move with the times regarding a new stadium, as several have pointed out its the next 50 years or more we are looking to. That kind of ambition is seesntial if we are to build a regular top 4 side.
