MK Dons have signed Tottenham right-back Adam Smith on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old played 39 times in League One last term, during a loan spell with Bournemouth, helping them to the play-off semi-finals.
He has five England Under-20 caps, four of which came at this summer's Under-20 World Cup in Colombia.
"We thought he'd go to the Championship, being an England Under-20 international," Dons boss Robinson told
BBC Three Counties Radio.
"But we could afford to wait for him to come back from the competition.
"He's from a side who play a very similar style to us, very unique and attack minded with full-backs who are like wingers.
"He's a lovely lad and we're looking forward to having him."
Smith has yet to make his senior Spurs debut but has experienced previous loan spells at Wycombe and Torquay.
