Liverpool's remaining fixtures are as follows:-
Fulham (A) - Swansea (H) - Southampton (A) - Sunderland (H) - MAN UTD (A) - Cardiff (A) -
SPURS (H) - West Ham (A)- MAN CITY (H) - Norwich (A) - CHELSEA (H) - Palace (A) - Newcastle (H).
I would say that we are still in a very good position to finish Top 4, providing we do not drop any silly points against some of the strugglers. Obviously we will drop some points, although I am hoping it won't be too many, I think our FATE is almost entirely in our own HANDS.

Liverpool have the points and goal difference, so I would say its in their hands, not ours. Without doubt they are a far better side than us, so I dont see us overtaking them this season.

4th spot is currently Liverpools to throw away, all we can do is bang in decent performances, bag as many points as possible and hope they slip up. Once we are sat in 4th and those below dont have a game in hand etc then its in our hands.

I go with what you said. Yes, we have a poor goal average but the positives out way the negatives. We are 3 points behind Liverpool. Liverpool has to play us United, City and Chelsea. Our biggest obstacles are Liverpool at Anfield and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. I would go for a draw with Chelsea, but I do think we are capable of beating Liverpool on their own ground. The rest is how we deal with the rest of the teams, starting with Newcastle (away). :up:

That is exactly what people said when I said that we were capable of beating United on their own ground..... and of course I was joking.... what a silly suggestion..... and as you know they thrashed us 17-0 and we were humiliated (and now we are struggling at the bottom of the table). So this time I better not make such a stupid mistake again, oh, no, and say "yes, I am joking!". Silly me! :up: :dance:

You could be right, however, if we can't beat Liverpool then I would hope a draw. But as you said Southampton beat Liverpool at Anfield so anything is possible.
Concerning my previous post; I was the only one on this forum that predicted that Spurs would beat United at Old Trafford and by the correct score. Everybody else either predicted that Spurs would lose or draw. Obviously the joke was on me and I hope the same sort of joke will be on me when we beat Liverpool at Anfield.

Liverpool are pretty much on a par with Man City when it comes to home games, very very dangerous. I think if we came away with a draw it would be a hell of a result considering how they smacked our arse in our back yard and what they did to the Goons also! We could come away with another :hide: ing it will take something special to get a full result and I am sorry we just dont possess it right now!
My biggest disappointment regarding this season is that teams have nothing to fear from us currently! We used to be a threat to everyone in the league a season ago, and now we are whipping boys to help increase the GD of those above us. I dont think a team out there doubts they can take points from us.

Pool trounced us 5-0 at home and it should have been more, they are as deadly as MC, there fowards are punishing teams for fun , our defence is crap we are not as good as them end off, if we manage to beat them brilliant but let's be realistic we thought we could beat city and look where that ended us at...11 goals against 1 scored!! That says it all.

With respect Voice, Man Utd are not in the same league as Liverpool or Chelsea this season. In fact, the table does not lie, and we are at least as good as they are.

I think we are better than M.U. Moyes dosent know his best team, he has made some strange signings apart fro Matta, the players are playing for themselves instead as a team and they have a simular situation to what we have every year, key player threatening to leave if the team dosent do this or that.
Liverpool on the other hand have only tinkered a little this year and had the team bonding last season, they are well organised all over the pitch, very very attack minded because of the pace threat they have, this coupled with no European football has bode well for them, there players are well rested for league games and they have extra time for training, this in my opinion is why we will not make 4th spot.

I don't think I am God now, or then. My comments concerning United was because of comments made earlier. My point was that we can beat Liverpool; I don't think it is impossible. I used the same argument when we played against United at Old Trafford.
If I thought I was god I would put millions of pounds on who will be in the top 4 and which order. If I thought I was god I would get all the prediction spot on. One prediction doesn't make one god.... more so when god doesn't exist; unless we are talking in the mind? :up: ;)
As for the comment: United are a different team. Yes, but so was Liverpool earlier on; their fortunates changed, while United's dipped. That doesn't mean it can't be reversed.

Blackjack I think you have summarised very well and I agree with your point of view, I think of the top of my head we are currently 8 points ahead of Utd in the table on equal games.
Job done against Newcastle, now onto the next game and another 3 points will do nicely we need Liverpool to slip up badly and we need to continue winning to get 4th its a lot to ask IMO.

When I said that we can beat Liverpool at Anfield somebody asked me if I was “having a laugh,”; in other words pulling their privates or was I just an in-patient (or an out-patient) to a mental asylum? Possibilities, maybe… but let us look at the facts.
Last night’s match against Fulham (holding up the rest of the league at the bottom); and Liverpool 4th in the league. If it wasn’t for a penalty in the last minute Fulham would have held Liverpool to a draw.
Let us look at both records since Sherwood took over on the 22 December. Putting the 5-1 home defeat to one side for a moment (just a moment) Spurs have won 7, Drew 2 and lost 1. Liverpool have won 6, drew 2 and lost 2. Spurs have scored 21 goals and conceded 6 (not including the City game). Liverpool have scored 27 and conceded 14. Even if you add our defeat by City we have conceded 3 less; in other words we have a better defence than Liverpool. However we scored 6 goals less than Liverpool.
Now let is look at our defeat against City. Yes, City beat us 5-1. They got the first goal, the second was a wrongly given penalty (exonerated later as a mistake/ poor judgement on behalf of the referee). However, that didn’t stop Danny Rose being sent off. There is no doubt that City is a very good team. So when 10 men Spurs took on 11 men City we had no chance. If there was no sending off? We might have won, we might have drawn or we might have lost; all speculation. But I bet the result would have been totally different. I believe we could have got a draw.
My point is that we are not as bad as some make out; we DO have a chance against Liverpool at Anfield. Liverpool has a poorer defence, compared to Spurs. What they have going for them are their two strikers. But our ever increasing goal surge and even our ever growing and strengthening defence can go to Liverpool and win. Whatever you think, I don’t believe I am pissing in the win (or having a laugh) when I say that we can beat Liverpool. Whether you agree with me or not I am sure my detractors will be hopping that I am right and we do get a victory at Anfield; that is providing we have a full fit squad, of course!

Of course we have a chance against Liverpool no one has said we havent, even a pub team would have a chance. Football as well as a game of skill and tactics is also a game of chance and luck that what makes it so bloody fun!
Most of us think, i.e have an opinion that we are unlikely to beat Liverpool at Anfield, whilst of course we all want to beat Liverpool at Anfield and it has nothing to do with wanting to prove who is right or wrong in their opinion of belief but Spurs getting the best result possible!

While I fear we will lose at Anfield, we might still finish above them. Apart from the games against Liverpool and Chelsea, I think all Spurs remaining games are against teams in the bottom half of the table, while Liverpool still have quite a few tricky matches to come.

Our main trouble is Liverpools goal difference :( there is no way we can catch that, our only hope is to beat them on points. they have a +32 goal count.(http://www1.skysports.com/football/competitions/premier-league/table)

Whilst we stand as good a chance as anyone else to get a result at Anfield, if not better, we will never match their goal difference.
Voice's stats show that on a good day we can do it. Fulham were unlucky yesterday, or should I say Liverpool were lucky!

He did say it, but I think he was either covering himself, or trying to take the pressure off the players. Either way, we cannot afford to lose that many games if we are going to compete with Liverpool and Man Utd for 4th spot.

I believe that Liverpool are a very dangerous side and because of their strength in attack they will be a threat against any side they play. Regardless of where they are in the league. For us to claim 4th spot we will have to keep up the form we have shown and I would say can only afford to lose 3 games at the very most and still be in with a chance of getting 4th. It also depends heavily on the number of draws to wins ratio compared with Liverpool's. Draws can be a vital point, but too many and you are losing too many points. We could lose 5 games if we won the rest with no draws at all. Which would give us 21 points. If Liverpool lose 3 games but then draw 5 games, that would only be 17 points and we would beat them by 1 point. Obviously this is only one possible combination, but highlights how it is not as simple as counting the games lost. There are too many permutations and things can change very quickly for any side. Just look at our record in recent years and you can see plenty of examples. It would be nice if we were the other side of those situations for a change.

Had we been playing Liverpool on Wednesday, and not Newcastle, then the result would probably have been very different. They would not have missed the chances our still poor defending gave them.

Our record against top 4 sides in recent years had been pretty good with the exception of the two MC and one Liverpool game this season, so this is something in our favour, Our away record is one of the best in the league and believe it or not we actually have one of the best defences in, the league!, our main problem is, when were bad were really bad!, this is where not having a natural leader to pick us up and fight back!, if tim could some how get one of our regulars to start laying down the law and give us a good kick up the backside we could be even title contenders.

If the league table was made up of only away games and after the 13 played so far we would currently be top on 29 points which is 3 points clear of the Goons in second with a +7 GD which is 1 higher than the Goons and 1 less than Chelsea and Man city who would be in 3rd and 4th place respectively. Nice little stat that is! :up:

Our record against top 4 sides in recent years had been pretty good with the exception of the two MC and one Liverpool game this season, so this is something in our favour, Our away record is one of the best in the league and believe it or not we actually have one of the best defences in, the league!, our main problem is, when were bad were really bad!, this is where not having a natural leader to pick us up and fight back!, if tim could some how get one of our regulars to start laying down the law and give us a good kick up the backside we could be even title contenders.

If the league table was made up of only away games and after the 13 played so far we would currently be top on 29 points which is 3 points clear of the Goons in second with a +7 GD which is 1 higher than the Goons and 1 less than Chelsea and Man city who would be in 3rd and 4th place respectively. Nice little stat that is! :up:
Yes its the home form thats the main problem. 0 points v WHU and Newcastle, 1 point v WBA = 8 points dropped = us top of the table !!

When I said that we can beat Liverpool at Anfield somebody asked me if I was “having a laugh,”; in other words pulling their privates or was I just an in-patient (or an out-patient) to a mental asylum? Possibilities, maybe… but let us look at the facts.
Last night’s match against Fulham (holding up the rest of the league at the bottom); and Liverpool 4th in the league. If it wasn’t for a penalty in the last minute Fulham would have held Liverpool to a draw.
Let us look at both records since Sherwood took over on the 22 December. Putting the 5-1 home defeat to one side for a moment (just a moment) Spurs have won 7, Drew 2 and lost 1. Liverpool have won 6, drew 2 and lost 2. Spurs have scored 21 goals and conceded 6 (not including the City game). Liverpool have scored 27 and conceded 14. Even if you add our defeat by City we have conceded 3 less; in other words we have a better defence than Liverpool. However we scored 6 goals less than Liverpool.
Now let is look at our defeat against City. Yes, City beat us 5-1. They got the first goal, the second was a wrongly given penalty (exonerated later as a mistake/ poor judgement on behalf of the referee). However, that didn’t stop Danny Rose being sent off. There is no doubt that City is a very good team. So when 10 men Spurs took on 11 men City we had no chance. If there was no sending off? We might have won, we might have drawn or we might have lost; all speculation. But I bet the result would have been totally different. I believe we could have got a draw.
My point is that we are not as bad as some make out; we DO have a chance against Liverpool at Anfield. Liverpool has a poorer defence, compared to Spurs. What they have going for them are their two strikers. But our ever increasing goal surge and even our ever growing and strengthening defence can go to Liverpool and win. Whatever you think, I don’t believe I am pissing in the win (or having a laugh) when I say that we can beat Liverpool. Whether you agree with me or not I am sure my detractors will be hopping that I am right and we do get a victory at Anfield; that is providing we have a full fit squad, of course!
Had we been playing Liverpool on Wednesday, and not Newcastle, then the result would probably have been very different. They would not have missed the chances our still poor defending gave them.
This is my point regarding our forthcoming games against Liverpool & Chelsea. The chances are they will both outscore us.
That could be true; that if we had played Liverpool, and not Newcastle things could have been different; and don't forget that Liverpool are a better side than Newcastle. But what I have noticed is that we are getting better as a team. So maybe it is lucky we are playing Liverpool when we do.
As for Ars*nal; again, I think we are a better side now than when we lost against them in the FA cup. But, time will tell.
