Anyone Watch/ a Fan of F1?
Season starting a few day's thought Id bring it up.
Sadly im away this weekend and can't watch it live, have use the old Sky+ this weekend. :(
-
I am a big fan of F1 and car-racing in general. I'm trying to watch as many races as possible live, though I usually have to skip races which are being held in other, more exotic time-zones. I will definitely watch the first race as Albert Park is one of my favourite circuits.
-
Yeah I do try and watch as much as possible.
All time's are in GMT

P1 - 1.30am
P2 - 5.30am

Anyone particular you cheer for? I've always liked McLaren and Jenson Button, but I'm also very happy when Finnish (our closest neighbors) drivers do well.
-
Well always cheers on the GB guys, and I also do like team Lotus.
-
I always try and watch F1, problem is apart from the races in Asia and obviously Oz, all the others are on late at night, and at my age I need my beauty sleep. Living in Melbourne gives me the opportunity to enjoy the build-up, and work takes me right past Albert Park during the week prior. Button, Hamilton and Vettel are the three Drivers I enjoy watching.

Have you ever been to a F1 race at Albert Park?
-
Also like F1.
Particularly Mclaren and JB as he is (was) a "local" lad.
But any garage/driver tied to UK e.g. Red Bull, Lewis etc.
Not normally that keen to be up at all hours but 0600 is ok

How Albert Park is being set up for the race. In two minutes :P
-
Great video there Riff
-
Yes I went to the 2nd one at Albert Park, I was working at the Crown Casino in Melbourne and I had to
act as Host to 20 Asian High Roller Guests of the Casino for Sat and Raceday, they had been flown in especially for the Grand Prix, and the Casino had a Box about 20 yards from the finishing line overlooking the Finishing Straight, and I along with the guests were given a guided tour of Pit Lane on Saturday, but Riff, the noise was absolutely deafening even wearing ear-plugs, but it was a great experience.
:nods: :nods:
-
Believe Me that Video is absolutely Spot-On, the Track for the rest of the year is a very busy road, I actually drove on the Track last Friday, I think they closed it on Sat 9th March to complete preparations for Practice which starts Thursday 14th March(Tomorrow) and I think it re-opens as a public thoroughfare two weeks after the race.
-
I also play lot of F1 2012 & 2011 on the Xbox which I use a wheel for too.
Luckily enough to have sky F1 channel also ;)
-
Its possible to stream Sky F1 channel for those without.
Can supply the link if wanted by anyone.
-
Just watching the Driver press conference :D

Just like Monaco which is between Grand Prix a busy street.

I think the beginning of last season was one of the best I've ever seen. Five GPs with five different winners. I would like to see someone else win the championship this year.
-
Riff,
You are right, I have actually Driven the entire MONACO circuit, START to FINISH, albeit in a hire car, and it is amazing, as you come out of the Tunnel at approx 30 mph the sun almost blinds you, one can only imagine what it must be like to emerge at about 100 mph to see the Bay to your left, knowing that ONE mistake and you will be SWIMMING in it, I would say us mortals would quite possibly Crap our pants.
Believe me it is quite FRIGHTENING.
:nods: :nods:
-
Heavy rain, I hope its not a wash out.
A showery Sunday could make for an interesting first race though.
-
Too bad the McLarens are so off the pace. :-[
-
Here is a crap fact I was taught to drive and passed my test with the same instructor who taught Jenson Button, unlike Jenson I passed at first attempt lol

Well................... not a bad achievement i guess considering lol
-
Well done Kimi, can't say much about the weekends action as I missed it all :(
-
Yeah, nice to see someone else besides Red Bull, Ferrari or McLaren win a race. Well done!
-
Having just watched the Highlights, doing a 2 stopper really worked for Kimi. Lotus look like they will be good on there tyres again.

Back from home from work to catch the rest of P2 and GP2 qualifying .
-
So, not much has changed since Australia. Lotus is still the fastest in P1. Seems that Lotus are - for the time being - back at the top where they belong. Though it's technically a new team, I believe Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jochen Rindt et al would agree. :)
-
I thought Red Bull was quickest in the P's and quail last week, I might be wrong tho.
Ah well off to work soon, least once home I can watch Quail flying before bed
-
Things got wet again, and Q3 was done on Inters.
-
But Vettel on pole !!
I know he was one of the last to cross the line with a drying
track but the Red Bulls and Ferrari's seemed quick.
Come on Lewis and Jenson...
Will slicks make for a different race?
-
Vettel was the only one to go back to the pits for fresh Inters and it worked so fair play to him.
If the Race starts dry the top 10 will be allowed to change to new/old dry tyres.
-
Vettel was a real prick today. :( I feel for Webber.
-
Watching the interviews afterwards I think Vettel knows he didn't
obey team orders and isn't the most popular driver around.
But hey he won the grand prix, got max points and in a few races time this will
be forgotten. Poor Weber as he deserved it with an impressive start.
Fair play to Rosberg though who did play the team game.
-
Forgot to set alram this morning, so had to wait for the re-run as I like to watch the full race and pre & post coverage.
Echo the the above, they are drivers and what do they do? Race that's what's Seb and Nico wanted to do. Nico followed teams orders tho.
Mark was pissed as you could see just before they went up for podium. :P
-
Don't worry F1 is back again at China next weekend. I'll post the time's nearer the date. 8)
-
I've never actually liked the Shanghai circuit. I don't know why. What are your favourite tracks?
-
Hmm I play F1 2011 & 2012, so I enjoy racing at Spa & Brazil. Don't mind China some tricky turns and a long DRS straight.

I've played them too. Never got through the Monaco GP, though.

Nice to see Räikkönen in the front row as well. Seems that Massa is starting to prove he's not past his sell date anyway.
-
Should be a good race, some starting on options & others on primes.
-
23 out of 56 Laps gone... its been very exciting so far
-
I hate to see Vettel so high up. And Webber really deserves more luck.
-
Yeah got to feel for Webber not much luck lately :(

Indeed, Button had a problem with he's car in P3 also.

A good race! Not a classic Monaco, but a few twists and turns nevertheless. I wonder how long they'll let Grosjean race in F1, the guy is a threat to others and himself.

Might be too early to say but I think Vettel will get a 4th in row WDC
-
Damn Vettel! Räikkönen repeated Michael Schumacher's record of 24 consecutive races with points finish. That's stability!
-
Seems like it be for ever since the last race...
British GP this weekend coming up.
Wish I was going, had to save some funds for next year.
-
Webber has confirmed that he will be leaving F1 at the end of the season :(
Go's on to say this has nothing to do with the "team orders of early part of the season.
The Australian said joining Porsche in sports cars had always been his "personal plan and I've stuck to it".

Well, he is 38 in August and to be fair, I cannot see him ever winning the title. The known fact is that he doesn't get along with Vettel, can't work with him and I suppose he wouldn't want to drive for a lesser team. Driving in other series can be as fun, I think. Less primadonnas, more about the man and the car.
I've always liked Webber. He seems a genuinely nice guy with strong work ethics and knowledge of the equipment, techniques etc. He reminds me Coulthard and Barrichello who both played the second fiddle to other drivers, but always seemed more "humane". All the best to Mark, I think F1 will be going to miss him.

P1 was heavy rain, with cars just going out in the last 15 mins. Ricciardo set the fastest time.
P2 a cloudy afternoon which Rosberg set the fastest time.
Saturday and Sunday should see some sunshine.

Indeed mate, with 2 of them events over here :) (F1 & Wimbledon).
Sadly I've been to none of them, hopyfully that will change soon :)
I'm just watching quailfying now, so I've stayed offline to miss the results.

Great to see Hamilton on Pole  Hope they have the race pace for tomorrow tho.
-
Few problems with the tyres again...
1. Rosberg
2. Webber
3. Alonso
-
I would be surprised to see them race in Hockenheim. There are talks of driver's strike to force FIA and Pirelli into making more durable tyres. It was sheer luck that none of the drivers with blown tyres didn't crash heavily today.

Second time in a row. Let's hope Pirelli's improvements were justified.

Sadly it's all getting a little boring now. Just like it was when Schumacher was at Ferrari. Back then I stopped following F1 for years... :(

Did you see the cameraman get hit by a wheel in the pits? Ouch!?

Did you see the cameraman get hit by a wheel in the pits? Ouch!?
Lucky accident if you ask me. About ten years ago at Melbourne a track worker was killed by a loose wheel. Bianchi's car rolling across the track was pretty extreme too.

Lotus Team Principal Eric Boullier has confirmed to the BBC that their star driver Kimi Raikkonen will not compete in the final two races this season to have surgery on his back.
Lotus reserve Davide Valsecchi looks most likely to get the drive for the final two races, an opportunity he will no doubt hope leads to a full time F1 drive next year. Until last weekend when Fabio Leimer was crowned 2013 GP2 champion, Valsecchi had been the only GP2 champion not to race in F1, although he is still yet to be confirmed for Austin.
Also Massa Will be at Williams next season

SkyF1 has been showing updates of the Winter testing at Jerez.
There not allowed to record the tests, but they have been interviewing teams & drivers.
Day 1 & 2 few cars are only doing a few laps a day.
Still early days but there are 2 more days left at Jerez.
-
Button's new McLaren was the fastest yesterday. However, these lap-times don't show much as teams are testing different aspects.

So on to Hungary... Rosberg is on pole whist Hamilton will start on the back row, he car went up in smoke/fire In P1.
-
Lewis Hamilton fought up from a pit lane start and a first-lap spin to finish third as Daniel Ricciardo beat Ferrari's Fernando Alonso to win the race.
-
Great drive from Lewis. I loved it when he was told to slow for Rosberg and he basically told them to f==k off!!
-
It's Spa this weekend!!
-
Oh, I love Spa track. Watching it and racing on it in the game. A great old-time classic, not one of these modern and boring Mickey Mouse tracks
-
Looks like a hurricane is brewing at Mercedes with Rosberg again ruining Hamilton's race and then admitting he could have pulled back but chose not too '' to prove a point ''.
I think that if things aren't sorted then Ricardo could capitalise and possibly snatch the title.
F1 is interesting again after the Vettel era, thank god.

Monza(Italy) this weekend.
-
They f**ked up the famous Parabolica curve by replacing the sand-pit with asphalt. :(
-
Hamilton back on pole today.
-
Great win for Lewis - especially after bodging his start, although I think the launch control was at fault.
Rosberg is just like Vettel - good when out in front but pants when put under pressure.
-
Indeed go to see Hamilton back to winning ways...this battle will go right to the end.
-
Hamilton now leads the drivers championship after winning at Singapore this weekend.
-
Japan this weekend, I'm just watching P1 right now.

I am not really into GP guys, just heard on the News that Vettel has announced that he is joining Ferrari, what are your thoughts on this??

Reportedly Alonso is moving to McLaren, but I just hope he won't take Button's seat.
-
It's hasn't been made official yet, but as Vettel it's time for a different challage.
In today's race it was a very wet race and sadly Jules Bianchi had a bad crash and is currently ungoing surgery after suffering a severe head injury.
-
Well Hamilton has won the drivers championship.
-
Well done Hamilton. I watched the race with my boyfriend. Really enjoyed it.
-
Well the 2015 season kicked off last weekend.
Only 15 cars started & only 11 finished. Hamilton won the race, but it was a poor race overall I thought.
Hopefully more cars will start and close the gap to the top 2.
-
It pains me to see how woeful the McLarens are.
-
Insides but at least Button finished the race last week, even tho just outside the points.
Still long way to go tho, hopefully some process though out the season.
-
It was the Malaysian GP today!
It was Ferrari's first win since 2013(Spain) & Vettels first win with them too.
Hamilton & Rosberg completed the podium.
