And then you'll wake up.

Will be a very tough game, i think we will draw or just nick it.

If Charlton play any thing like they did on Saturday and on our previous encounter, we could/should hammer them.

But, this being Spurs, i wouldn't be surprised if we get beat/draw.

I only want to be optimistic but let's face it Spurs never make it easy on themselves and Charlton are fighting against relegation, so it could be tough. Having said that, we beat em 5-1 at the Lane so who knows?  I'll sit on the fence as usual and wait and see.

What planet are you on? :uhuh:   Well I guess there's more chance of a 5-0 win than our Didier scoring! lol

2-1 to us or 2-2.

Depends on how our defence plays

This will be a close game, Charlton have some fight left in them yet.  I think we will shade it 2 - 1, with a goal each from Berbatov and Keane

This could be a tough game for us, as long as our defence play well i think we could have a 2-0 victory and much needed 3 points.

It depends who scores first,. A deft wee touch from berbs to put us in the lead could see the Charlton resolve vanish but if they score first then all of a sudden they will see survival in the Prem league as a relity and they will be hard to knock over.

Good one pukekohe ! My thoughts exactly !! We should push them and score a couple in the first 30 mins.

They wouldn't have been in the relegation rumours if they had a solid defense !!

hopefully our men have learned how to mark properly this week, last week at the Riverside was a bit of a dissapointment when it came to our marking

We beat them 5-1 at the Lane earlier at the Lane and I hope there is a repeat of that come monday. They may be fighting relegation but i'll be happy if we complete our third league double of the season.

DOUBLES COMPLETED THIS SEASON

Theorectically we should have a comfortable win, but knowing us we won't make it easy. With Charlton fighting against relegation and us fighting to get in Europe could be a very tight match. I think we'll nick it 2-1, they won;t make it easy at all.
Title: Charlton Vs Spurs
Post by: taimedowne on May 02, 2007, 04:34:51 PM
Depending on other results a win for us could very well see Charlton relegated. So you can bet they will be fighting for their lives. But they will be very nervous and if we can put them on the back foot early on they may well crack under the pressure. We need this win almost as much as them, though for different reasons 3 games 3 wins we finish 5th and the European tour continues.

I think Charlton are going to fight for it. It will be a tuff game but i reckon we will win by a couple of goals.

So does anyone know why this fixture is on Monday? What's wrong with Saturday?  We now have 3 games in 6 days which is gonna be tough.
Title: Charlton Vs Spurs
Post by: lyubokick on May 04, 2007, 12:12:48 PM
If we win @ Charlton's ground -> we finish at 5th place with the nice two home game we have.

LOSE, and we might well end at 9th , as the moral will fall sharply.

Draw, and we get a 7th ...

SKY SPORTS is the reason..lol

3 in 6 days is great for the fans but bad on the players...and at the worst time aswell...we need to win all 3 so we can finish 5th

LE TISS PREDICTS

AWAY WIN - It promises to be fast and frantic and it promises to be nervy, but I just can't see Charlton recovering from that defeat last week. If they were playing a team with nothing to play for, then maybe, but Spurs are going so well now, I think they can cope with whatever Alan Pardew's side throw at them and leave with a 2-0 win, thank you very much.

MATT'S MAIN MAN

DIMITAR BERBATOV - He's such a silky footballer and so important to Spurs. He has come to terms with playing away from home as well and it's no surprise that the big clubs are being linked with a move for him in the summer. But he's said he wants to stay, which is great news for Spurs. You'll see just why on Monday night.

I think that this will be a lot harder than we think.  This really is "make or break" for the Add**ks.  Lose this, and almost certainly down.  It comes down to who has the greatest hunger.  I think it will be nil-nil at half time, and then we will score.  They will have to come out and attack, and we will get one or two more.

TEAM NEWS

As Robbie Keane races to get fit for Charlton on Monday, fellow striker Mido will miss out again.

In-form Robbie - 14 goals in his last 12 games - sprained his ankle in training on Wednesday but Martin Jol reported on Thursday that he was hopeful he would be fit in time for Monday's evening kick-off at the Valley.

However, Mido remains sidelined with a groin strain suffered after the Chelsea game on April 7.

Typically, there was good and bad news on the injury front for Martin with Teemu Tainio quickly back in the frame after damaging his ankle against Ars*nal and long-term victims Anthony Gardner and Benoit Assou-Ekotto both back in training.

However, Paul Stalteri's unlucky run of injuries continues with a medial ligament problem. "It's his left knee and might keep him out for the rest of the season," reported Martin. "But Anthony and Benoit are both training and Teemu is back, so that's positive."

Lee Young-Pyo is recovering from surgery after damaging ligaments in his left knee.

Great to see Assou and Gardner returning aswel as Tainio. Too soon for all 3 I feel and I expect MJ to start the same team as against 'Boro.

Charlton will be very up for this and will pose us real problems but I think we are too strong.

2-1 to us.

Spare a thought fopr me guys. My work takes to me to a place called Taumauranui for the week. it is the middle of the island and a bleak little place that time forgot. i will be hopefully watching the game over breakfast in whatever hotel i am stayting in.
One thing that will make the sun shine on my day is a stunning Spurs win.
Keano even on a twisted ankle should start. I really think Berbs is going to do the business. Bent could put in the extra effort to attract even more interest in him from buyingclubs.
The way the results went today means that a win for us makes Europe as good as certain.
Title: Charlton Vs Spurs

I think if Spurs match desperate football with desperate football, they should win since we are the more talented side. If they get cocky, though, this could get ugly.

2-0 to Spurs with Berba scoring both.

One more day to go I can't wait for this we are gonna send the add**ks down and complete our 2nd league double over them.
Title: Charlton Vs Spurs
Post by: Storts on May 06, 2007, 09:14:25 PM
We win this and we are pretty much in Europe.

By winning here, 5th looks like the most viable option.

With results going extremely well for us over the weekend, us in 9th are in poll position for that elusive 5th spot that will show that we have taken great strides this year.

The same league placing and 3 great cup runs.

It won't be an easy place to go but lets hope we can send them down.

1-2 Spurs, Keano brace, Bent

Interesting Stats:

Spurs are chasing a fourth straight win over Charlton and fourth in five League visits to the Valley. They've scored 11 goals in their last three against the Add**ks, including the 5-1 triumph in the reverse fixture. Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov scored twice, to set up the chance of a second successive 'double' against Charlton.

Charlton are in danger of ending the season on their lowest number of points in a Premiership season ever. They're currently three short of the 36 registered in the relegation season of 1998-99. Charlton are also just three goals short of conceding 4,000 in regular League games since the second World War.

Spurs have won six and lost just one of the last nine Premiership matches and have a chance of finishing in the top seven. Otherwise they may have to be content with a top eight berth and a summer campaign in the Intertoto Cup.

Defeat for the Add**ks could see them relegated, if it's accompanied by at least a draw for Fulham and a win for either West Ham or Wigan. Alternatively Charlton will be down if they fail to win and both West Ham and Wigan enjoy victories, or if Charlton draw, Fulham win and either Wigan or West Ham also win.

Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane are Tottenham's leading scorers with 20 goals each - 10 each in the Premiership. Keane scoring five in the last three matches.

Darren Bent is Charlton's top scorer with 14. He has netted 12 in the Premiership, nine more than any other club mate.

HEAD TO HEAD (Home & Away)
League: Charlton 16 wins, Spurs 24, Draws 9
Premiership: Charlton 6 wins, Spurs 7, Draws 3

HEAD TO HEAD (at Charlton only)
League: Charlton 8 wins, Spurs 12, Draws 4
Premiership: Charlton 3 wins, Spurs 4, Draws 0

Woooooooooooohooooooooooooo!  I'm smiling now. Nice goal by JD too...but look who passed it. I must say the defence looked far better today but against a team like Charlton, it shouldn't be a problem.

Two games to go....we're almost there. :gaydance:

That result puts us in a great position. I have to say I feel a bit sorry for Charlton, a club with good tradition and support. If they keep Pardew I`d say they`ve a good chance of bouncing straight back.

:lolabove: That's the best way to predict. Wait til the game as finished.

Back to the game.

I feel sorry for Charlton, they're a decent club. But why were they booing Berba? Did I miss something? Or were they in awe of Berba's goal and didn't know how to react to it. :dunno:

New contender for Goal of the season BTW.

They never looked like scoring did they, I thought we controlled the game really well and defending brilliantly. But Berba was the difference in the end. Man we need to keep this guy. :notworthy: Amazing!

One more win and Europe here we come.

I feel sorry for Chartlon, Their fans gave them a great reception at the end.

Berbatov does something to amaze me every game he plays. Is it just me or when he gets the ball in on goal you just know hes going to do something productive with it (either score or create a goal) whereas if keane or deofe
(no offence to them) are in on goal they could waste it.

Yeah...respect to the Charlton fans... I nearly strated crying with them after the game was over. I felt soooo sorry for them. Especially when they showed those little kids...crying but still trying to sing. Very emotional scenes!

Berbatov was just awesome and I liked Defoes goal at the end. Though I am not a big JD-fan, it's really tough to spent most time on the bench and then scoring such a nice goal in the last minute. He's getting more and more respect from me.

oh, and I have to add...that the whole team was doing well and I liked Zokora's appearance a lot yesterday.

Respect to all of the Charlton fans. But we deserved to win the game 2-0 is a refelction of what was to come. A great goal from JD tho he is a good player we have got I am not a big fan of him but he does score good goals. Berb'a goal was the best one which made it 1-0 to us and the other good thing is we have kept a clean sheet.

My History teacher is a season ticket holder at the Valley so I gave him some banter. Feel sorry for Charlton, deserve to stay up was more then Wigan or Sheff Utd.

Onto the game, what a goal by Berba, you cannot say anymore about this bloke. I think we defended really well, apart from the odd set piece. Rocha was getting the run around and it was good to see Gardner back. Tainio was tucked in far to much and Charlton exploited it.

Charlton didn't bombard us as much as I thought they would in the 2nd half but a great goal by JD sealed off the game. Another clean sheet, only 1 more point to realistically guarantee us Europe. And now we are in the driving seat for 5th. COYS!

Oh and our support was also awesome!
