A must win game but team boosted by injury free Dawson, Lennon and Bale.
Also Kaboul  ready to play in approx 2 weeks time.

think the biggest boost is having Lennon back, he's been  great again this season

I hope the lads realise the importance of this game after the Liverpool and Fulham losses!

    Joolz,
Judging by the way they have played in the 1st half, I think we can safely say that they do!!!!!

Great 3 points but we defended so far back we were nearly on the terraces !!!  We should have ran riot and kept going at them?  AVB seems to get us playing negative if we get ahead at all?  Its worrying because at 2-0 we were cruising.  I'm glad Michu had an off day.

Our second half didn't live up to the expectations after the great first one, but a win is a win. Job well done. And thank you, Southampton.  :D

I would hardly call it a good win, especially after the way we played in the 1st half, we were dominating the game, and guess what, instead of putting the game out of Swansea's reach, what did we do, we tried to defend a 2-0 lead and bloody near threw it away, WHEN WILL WE LEARN, attack is the best form of defence, but we won and another 3 pts in the bag. So WELL DONE LADS.
Obviously Swansea did their homework, most of their dangerous attacks were made down their right flank, they really concentrated on putting pressure on young Naughton and it almost paid off, I think Benny should be playing, we are missing his experience when the pressure is applied.

Agree with you Paul, why wasn't Benny playing presume he is injured ?

He was a substitute, so probably nothing serious.

Anyone know why Lloris wasnt playing?

We can't take any game for granted. I think every game will be scrappy near the end of the season. We won, Chelsea lost but we must keep focused. Let us also hope that Ars*nal also slip up. We've got two important League games coming up.

Lloris has a problem with his knee. He should be back training tomorrow, though. So, just a precaution.

The good news is that we've got a good goalkeeper in reserve; just in case.

As Lloris put it before the game with Swansea - we have eight cup finals ahead of us.

           " AIN'T THAT A FACT"

Its MAKE or BREAK time. Now is the time to Stand Up and Be Counted , Put Up or Shut Up , and hope to Christ we don't get any injuries to any Key Players and Levy's inability to sign some players in JAN doesn't cost us a Champions League place.

Of course we have Seven important home games coming up. But let us deal with the first two first. Take every game as it comes. At the same time hoping that teams like Ars*nal, Chelsea and City drop points.

Skin of the teeth win to me. We will have to do better if we want to qualify for the CL.

Yes indeed. Aparently AVB's instructions at half time were to go out and get the 3rd goal to kill off the game. Unfortunately Adebayor wasn't listening. Then the old old problem of defending set pieces cropped up yet again. Ridiculous really after the 1st half performance.

Our constant inability to keep a clean sheet, and the poor form of our strikers would seem to be the likeliest reason for disaster over next 7 games. Surely we must cure one of these problems ??

We cannot rely on other teams dropping points, we have to ensure that WE DO NOT DROP ANY, by doing that we are then the Team in the Driving Seat applying the pressure, not the reverse!!!

I think Adebayor's problem is a complete lack of confidence at the moment, you could see by the expression on his face that he is so desperate to score, if he can find the back of net I think he will start to score again, Defoe is having the same problem, he can score for England but just can't do it for us. Its just the Strikers curse. Van Persie is having the same problem, not that I give a stuff about whether he scores or not,  I don't think he has scored for about 9 games.

I think with Adebayor and Defoe there is an element of frustration as well
in the way they are playing and not scoring.

He did score for Holland, though. So, pretty much the same scenario as it is with Defoe.

It is true that we cannot rely on others to drop points, but as I cannot see us winning all our remaing games, we will have to keep our fingers crossed and hope that the Arse and Chelsea have a few bad days as well, which is not at all impossible.

Having said that, we are 3rd and a few points ahead, albeit a game behind. It's  all in our hands, but if we play like we did against Swansea, we will be lucky to finish 5th.  I think we all dread a repeat of our dive towards the end of last season.  Fulham was one of them and Swansea was almost another.

On the sublect of Adebayor and Defoe. They are both awful atm and the longer it goes on the worse it will get.

Yes frustration/confidence/desperation amounts to the same thing, possibly trying too hard. The upside is they are both getting themselves into scoring positions, I think I would be more worried if they weren't, just a matter of time before they hit the back of the net, trust me it will happen sooner or later, I just hope and pray that it is sooner, they are both proven goalscorers.

Just try and remain positive, we are far too good a side and I feel sure that AVB and the Players do not want a repeat of last season's run in.
POSITIVE THINKING, WE WILL FINISH TOP 4, WE WILL FINISH TOP 4. TRUST ME I AM AN ENGLISHMAN, I DO NOT TELL PORKIES.(Well not very often).

Again I agree; all he needs is a bit of confidence. All players go through it and hopefully will pounce back; but sooner, rather than later. Defoe was the same. He lost confidence and then came back quickly.

I always think positive, but occasionally the reality of events takes over. Atm, the "absence" of both our main strikers combined with our lack of consistant football and the fact we could be playing more away games in foreign countries than most of the clubs below us is cause for concern with our fragile squad.

Apart from that I think all is OK. I hope you're right and that there is nowt to worry about!

Verthonghen was quality from day 1. He was the same at Ajax, our best signing for many a year for sure. If only we had 2 full backs and a striker as good as he is.

Agreed RSS61, and my point of course being Ade is a striker and this season not even as good as a mere shadow of last season!  Defenders scoring more than our striker says alot!

Tomorrow night it might not be a dream but a reality.

Defoe won't be playing because he is injured.
