EURO 2008 QUALIFIER - Saturday 24, March 2007

Quote
England Squad

Goalkeepers: Robinson (Tottenham), Foster (Man Utd, on loan at Watford), Carson (Liverpool, on loan at Charlton).

Defenders: G Neville (Man Utd), Richards (Man City), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Terry (Chelsea, capt), Woodgate (Real Madrid, on loan at Middlesbrough), Carragher (Liverpool), A Cole (Chelsea), P Neville (Everton).

Midfielders: Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Lampard (Chelsea), Lennon (Tottenham), Parker (Newcastle), Carrick (Man Utd), Dyer (Newcastle), Downing (Middlesbrough).

Forwards: Johnson (Everton), Rooney (Man Utd), Defoe (Tottenham), Bent (Charlton).

No big surprises in the squad. Glad Nugent and Barry are now called up I expect the team to be...

ROBINSON
CARRAGHER//FERDINAND//TERRY//P.NEVILLE
GERRARD//LAMPARD//HARGREAVES//LENNON
ROONEY//JOHNSON

I predict a good solid England performance and a 2-0 win.

I can't see us winning this. Given that we lost to Croatia, and our team is alot weaker, I cannot see us putting up a big enough performance to see off the Israelis.

1-0 victory to Israel

It will be good to see Lennon get a start for the first time. I just hope he isnt stuck on the left the whole match though.

2-1 England for me

I guess it depends on the formation we use. With that 4-4-2 that SL posted at the top of this thread, we'll get a draw, probably 1-1. Not ruling out a win, though. Especially not if Defoe comes in :p

I still think that gerrard in the middle is better than that lump-of-LARD . Honestly he has done everything to deserve being dropped.

Gerrard on the flank seems just a bit odd to me. I'm used to seeing him as a CM or CAM.

yea. Lamps has done nothing as of late which should justify his selection in the 1st eleven.

I hope they don't put Lennon on the left after his showing against Chelski.

I'm not sure McClaren will start him after that showing. He will prob put Downing or SWP out there. I bloody hope not though.

More incentive to win for England is that they would have an easy three in the next match against Andorra (on the 28th) so they could test some new players out and rest the "big namers." That way, England would have some momentum coming out of the March matches.

COME ON ENGLAND!!
