Saido Berahino has been left out of West Brom's squad when they faced Chelsea today. The England Under 21 has been in the news of late, linked to a move to Tottenham. Even though WBA rejected a number of offers from Tottenham, it seems Spurs have offered something WBA couldn’t refuse; that is if you believe the press.
Tony Pullis used new signing Salomon Rondon as replacement for Saido Berahino. Even though he didn’t score on his debut it didn’t stop WBA taking the match to Chelsea and coming close. The finally lost 3-2.

This story has been running for a couple of weeks, but not having him in the game against Chelsea is a positive step. He is a good player and I hope will fit into team ethos.
I also read that he might not be the only one. Aren't we interested in a Southampton player? Just over a week to go before we know what we've purchased or haven't purchased.
-
It seems that there are 15 clubs that have come in for him, according to the papers. United and Ars*nal are two of them. If that is the case then Spurs will struggle to get him. Both United and Ars*nal can offer him European Champions league football and a challenge for the title. We can only offer Europa league and a top 4 place (maybe).
-
It seems that Berahino has put in a transfer request and WBA have rejected it. They've also rejected another offer from Spurs.
-
It looks like us getting him could be dead in the water. Spurs seem to be chasing other forwards. But then again that could be just paper speculation. A week today we will have got our man or men and then it will be down to business.
-
I agree Spursx. What I've been reading is that our interest in him is now dead in the water and we've now moved on.

I've seen Saido Berahino on a number of occasions and I would have liked to have seen him join us. But nothing is certain in the transfer window. :-\
-
According to what I've just been reading he won't be sold in this transfer window; that was made by their director.
-
I am wondering if we will buy another striker or midfield before the transfer window closes. 8D :nods:

In case we will, I don't think it's going to be Berahino. We splashed out about £20m for Son, so I really don't believe Levy would be willing to spend more money.
-
Howdy folks,
I see we've got a new member, great. Hope all is well with everybody?
I was really pleased that Spurs have now purchased another striker. We so badly needed one and this takes pressure of Kane. I hope now that we can start climbing the league ladder. We certainly don't want to fall further behind.

I don't think so either now. According to their director he won't be sold under any conditions. I am sure that Berahino will love that.

There is still rumours that Berahino will join us. He was left out, I believe, from yesterday's game. Just under 48 hours before we know what is what, and what will not be. :nods: :nods: :nope: :nope: :-\ :-\

Let us hope that those rumours are right.

What a Saga!!

He isn't worth £22-25M, or for whatever price they want.

I think that should be looked at another way; he will be worth it if he does what he is paid to do (score lots of goals). Soldado was worth it, until he proved he wasn't. Look at Bale; Southampton sold him, Ars*nal didn't want him, Spurs got him and there was some question marks over him at first. Even talk of selling him. Then he became magic for Spurs and we sold for £85 million.
If we had crystal balls (sorry, 'ball'), and could go into the future and found out that he helped us challenge for the title I would say that £25 million was too little.
-
Next you'll say Lamela is worth the £30M we paid for him.
Get real...

I would if he did what it said on the tin ;)

I don't think we will know until we reach the deadline what we have, and haven't bought. But another striker would be nice.

I just read that a third bid has been rejected by WBA.
-
This has been a shambles the way this has all panned out and it's making our club look bad!, W Brom chairmen is slagging off Levy for his conduct in this matter and I feel this fiasco is just the sort of thing that will it put some players from wanting to come here! I don't like to see this sort of thing and nothing good has and will ever come from it! Wasted time trying to sign a player that had a hefty price tag and today could have been used much more wiser, another Levy example of bad running of the transfer policy.
-
I think it is six of one, half a dozen of the other. WBA chairman has been criticised because of how he handled it. Tony Pulis has said he expected Berahino to go and thought it was a shambles. Berahino was annoyed the way the club and chairman handled it, he wanted to leave. At the same time Levy should have had a contingency plan.
-
If Saido keeps pushing it might be possible that Spurs gets him in the January window. He is not a very happy bunny, and bunnies that aren't happy get nasty and myxomatosis and die a horrible death.
-
Let the Club buy his contract at WBA so that he can become a free agent and join us as soon as!!

I actually thought of this as well, but I don't know if this would be allowed. I think it would be regarded as unethical and against some regulations.
-
It was deffo a closed case with WBA, now it will good to see how he gets on from now till the Jan Window.
-
Is he actually that good ? I'm not so sure. Bearing in mind no other club came in for him ? Personally I am not that disappointed.

I've seen him play on a number of occasions and I think he is good. But that isn't usually the point, the point is will he be able to fit and continue scoring goals. Soldado was good but failed here. So I don't think you can tell from how they perform for another club. :hide:
-
I can see him coming to us in the january window sales.

I can't, I think Ars*nal will go for him in the January sales. It also depends how we are doing when January comes along whether we buy or not.

Yes its the job of a good scout/coach to decide whether a player can do a good job for them or not, not what they did or did not do at their last club.
-
I don't think they'd sell to Levy and there will probably be other interested clubs as well. That is, of course, if he plays well.
