We will win, can't say exact result, but I am all confident Bebra will score a couple.

Prediction: Berba will score 3 in next two games to get his goal tally to 25 !!:-)

Well win, 2-1 or 3-2

I think we'll do it 2-1 but it won't be easy especially as we will only have had a few days rest.

Agree it will be tough for the lads physically, some of them looked drained after the Charlton game.

Maybe Jol will use some rested players, the likes of Lennon and Keane look the most in need of a rest. Defoe should start.

I'm useless at predictions as I've stated before but I'll go for 2-1 or 3-2. Can't see it being easy though.

Tough game, remember the 3-2 win last season.

Blackburn still want Europe so will be up for it whilst we will be very tired after Monday. I hope Defoe starts after his goal on Monday, Keano needs a rest. I expect Ghaly to come in for Lennon. Maybe Gardner for King or Rocha? Even so I think at home we are too strong.

2-1 to us, guarantee Europe!!

Post by: dazzaTh on May 08, 2007, 06:55:02 PM
Will be a tough game, think we will just edge it though.

I agree keane should be rested and Defoe given a game, hes looked sharp when hes came on as a sub in the past couple of months.

Hope to god Gardner isnt brought in.

We know that a win guarantees Europe again and I think that the crowd will Spur the team on.Should be a great atmosphere. Blackburn are a decent side but so are we and our home advantage should give us the edge . I dont usually do predictions but I'll make an exception and say 2-0.

Very true, that's a big incentive for the lads, and with the fans behind them I see only one result TBH. :spurs crest:

Agreed it won`t be an easy game, Blackburn seem to have picked up a bit recently. I think we`ve completed the hardest part of the run in though with last two away wins, and we`re at home now, Spurs to win.

I'm going to this one, first visit to the lane in 11 years, last time I was there we lost 3-2 to Blackburn and Alan Shearer scored a hat-trick, while Sheringham and Armstrong scored for us hahaha.

I'm in the South Stand block 35, anyone know what its like down there? Can't wait to go to the Palace of dreams and see the greatest team in the history of football. So up for this one, I hope a few Campbell songs are thrown in for good measure hahahaha.

I'm with Shelside i reckon Daws to score. But i also think a second clean sheet and another 2-0 win is in the cards

I agree that Keane should be rested, let Defoe start. This wont be an easy game but if we start quickly as we did against Charlton we could be in for 2 or 3 goals.
Prediction 2-1 Spurs
Wish 3-0 Spurs

I think that if we keep our defence tight as we did at the Valley on Monday I think we can do well. Rest Keano for a bit, maybe all game and I think we can get a 2 - 0 Victory. I hope that Everton loses aswell, then we are in for a 5th place like last season.
Title: Spurs Vs Blackburn
Post by: hotspur61 on May 09, 2007, 09:49:36 AM
A couple of weeks ago I predicted:

away win at Midsborough, 3-1;
away win at Charlton 3-1 with last minute goal from breakaway;
draw at home to Blackburn, 1-1 or 2-2;
home win Citeh 3-1.

Not bad so far. I always thought that Blackburn would be the toughest of those 4. Hughes will have them up for it, McCarthy and Roberts are scoring for fun, our defence is leaky, and I think we will be tired. I'm rapidly talking myself into an away win here, but I'll stick with the draw.

Possibly,
But over the last few years we have had quite a good run against Blackburn, we havn't lost to them in ages, we tend to beat them at WHL.
I think BMJ will have the lads up for this as we need 1 more win to be sure of UEFA Cup football next season, i dont think Jol will settle for a draw and we will push for the 3 points, just so it doesnt come down to the last day against City when we need 3 points - even tho i feel well will beat City also! :nerner:

62 points and 5th place shall be ours!! :guinesssmilie:

TEAM NEWS

Ricardo Rocha is the big doubt for tomorrow night's (Thursday, 8pm) Premiership clash against Blackburn at the Lane.

The Portuguese defender sprained his ankle in the first half of Monday night's win against Charlton, forcing him out of the second half.

Anthony Gardner stepped into the left-back slot in the second half - his first action since March 11 after recovering from a hairline fracture of the fibula - and Martin Jol has options in that position now with the return to fitness of Benoit Assou-Ekotto, although Lee Young Pyo (knee) remains out.

Mido (groin) and Paul Stalteri (knee) are also still sidelined.

"I don't think Ricardo Rocha will be fit," reported Martin. "But for the rest of the squad I think we will be fine.

"Anthony Gardner played his first match back at Charlton and that was good, because our two left-backs were out, Ekotto hadn't played for three months and that would have been a bit of a gamble.

"We've got a few options there now and a decision to make because Anthony, Ekotto and Phil Ifil can all play there."

Yeah I would like to see Benny playing, Bentley would tie Gardner in knots. I hope Keano is rested and Lennon aswel. He is looking so jaded.

Robinson
Chimbonda King Dawson Ekotto
Ghaly Zokora Jenas Tainio
Defoe Berbatov

Berbatov insists to stay in TH for at least a year.
TH are now at 6th, but can finish at 5th. It's same result as last season.

I think we will win against Blackburn.

Blackburn are going pretty well so it won't be easy. But there is only one Berbetov.

After our win 2-0 win over Charlton we go into this game with confidence after that win on Monday night.  We are in 6th position know but if we get past Rovers we'll be 5th and it'll be the same as last season when we finished there. We should win this match about 3-1 if we score more then great stuff.

We will win 2-0 tonight............. Zakora will get of the mark with a total miss hit, that flies in top corner.

I'm still not sure about Ghali, he loses the ball way 2 much. Thats the 1 thing he needs to improve on, look for the easy ball rather than the killer ball all the time and lose it.

I think MJ will play Robbie tonight to make sure we're in europe next year, and play Defoe on sat
Title: Spurs Vs Blackburn
Post by: lyubokick on May 10, 2007, 11:32:22 AM
Same, I think Robbie will get a start. It's gonna be a hard game for the boys for sure, though.

At the very best, I hope Berba is shown Hughes' idiotic words for comparing him with Benni. That'll surely will make him rip them apart !!

I reckon 2-2 draw tonight which wouldn't be too bad, like to see Defoe start tonight, bit worried about Bentley making a mug of whoever plays left back (Tony G or an unfit BAE) but as long as Berbs is firing should be enough to win/draw in an enteetaining game

TEAM NEWS - Martin Jol makes three changes from the win at Charlton on Monday night. Anthony Gardner comes in for injured Ricardo Rocha at left-back, Steed Malbranque is back in the line-up for Jermaine Jenas and Jermain Defoe starts up front in place of Robbie Keane.

Our line-up is therefore: Robinson, Chimbonda, Gardner, Dawson, King, Malbranque, Tainio, Zokora, Lennon, Berbatov, Defoe. Subs: Cerny, Keane, Ifil, Ghaly, Huddlestone.

Apparently he's been having back spasms.

Believe it or not we're missing his forward runs tonight.

Keane is the man again. What a player he is for us. Mr Spurs.

Im not worried, Everton have to go to Chelski. We should beat Man City. So 5th is still in our hands.

I also thought Zokora was immense tonight. King is getting better by the game, pure class today. Left back is still our Achilles heel, Gardners fault for the goal.

To rant about that prick Ghaly go HERE (http://spursnetwork.com/forum/spurs-banter/723-ghaly-not-fit-wear-shirt.html#post7906")

A point to clinch Europe now.

We have to get a better result than Everton for fifth, though.

Post by: pukekohespur on May 10, 2007, 11:39:10 PM
Apart from looking shaky under a couple of crosses i though the defence did pretty well tonight. Good to see the King back in full form.
The question does need to be asked though why does berbs only really come to life when Keane comes on.
Could it be that only keamne links up close the others tensd to drift away from him leaving him isolated and meaning he can't give those deft little flicks. Only Keane seems to get in close to him and feed off the close quick passes.
The poor guy just looks lonely out there without Robbie. Shame because he is just about the greates thing in the league right now.
1-1 it will do as long as no lasagne is served before Saturday.

Oh and thanks for the live feed guys, much appreciated

just got back from the game, 6 hour round trip on the trains and car etc, ****ing mental. White Hart Lane is incredible, the fans, the stadium, the pitch everything. Apart from when Blackburn scored us fans gave em hell for the whole game.

Firstly, we played absolutely shockingly, no vision, no creativity, to many chips over there defence in which I don't think a single one made their intended player. I felt Lennon gave it a bloody good go and got stuck in, Ghaly Ghaly your a ****, Malbranque limped off which I was gutted about as he is a top player, Robinson had nothing to do all night and our defence dealt with almost everything that they had to throw at them as Blackburn game bounding forward and did nothing with it.

I've never gone so mental in all my life over a goal, it was quality hahaha

Can't wait to get back there next season, especially against Pompey as I wanna rip on Campbell for 90 minutes haha

Sorry if this is long winded but I just copy & pasted it straight from my myspace blog. I couldn't be bothered to pick bits out of it.

Well I suppose you could say it was a game of two halves (again)! Not for the first time this season, Spurs came out of the blocks slowly, not creating much in the last third of the pitch. There were a few changes in the side: JJ was out with a back problem so Tainio came into the central midfield, Malbranque on the wing, Gardner took the left back spot due to Rocha being injured in the last game and Defoe came in for Keane.

The first half was pretty uneventful and very frustrating to watch. When you know your team can play good football, this type of display is not pleasing to the eye. However I was delighted to see Lennon back to his normal self, zipping around the pitch, switching flanks and making a nuisance of himself. Berba also made a couple of sublime touches to get the crowd going. A rash challenge on Malbranque in the 19th minute led to Mokoena getting a yellow card and it wasn't long after that, that Steed had to be subbed. Ghaly was his replacement.

Blackburn went 1-0 up after 31 minutes, with their first real attack. Pedersen crossed for McCarthy who lost his marker Ledley King, and headed the ball over Robbo from the right. Their goal didn't really rile us up like you would have expected; I don't know quite what they were waiting for - perhaps an MJ rollicking at half time? We had one chance in injury time when Berbatov was brought down right on the corner of the box but this ended in a weak shot from Ghaly. Since coming on, Ghaly was having an appalling game with so many passes going astray. In fact, when he finally managed to pick out a teammate, the fans cheered him!

Into the second half then and the first real chance came our way when Defoe was felled outside the penalty area (although on watching it again, Pedersen actually got the ball). Berba lined up the free kick which was struck on target but Friedel managed to parry and then clutch right on the goal line.

Martin Jol quite rightly didn't take too long to bring Keano on and the substitute Ghaly was the man to go off after a very poor display. This sparked a very angry reaction from Ghaly who took off his shirt and threw it aside before proceeding down the tunnel. This in turn, sparked a reaction from the crowd and the chanting started "You're not fit to wear the shirt" and another which I'd rather not repeat. In my opinion, the man should never play for Spurs again. This kind of behaviour is disgraceful and the club do not need disrespectful players. I'm sure MJ and the club will take a tough stance on this incident.

There was a scare of going 2-0 down when Samba hit the bar a minute later with a header from a free kick. That was a reality check for Spurs and with Keane on, the game opened up and suddenly they had spirit which they'd lacked in the first half. In fact, Robbie was magnificent and proves he's not the man to leave on the bench. The equaliser came on
the 66th minute when Keane played it into Berbatov who turned with strength in the area, his shot parried off the goalkeeper and Jermain was in the right place to slot it home. This seems to 'spur' the team on even more and suddenly the passion returned. The possession was all ours, chances were being created and a win was definitely on the cards. The best chance for the three points was on 90 minutes when Chimbonda supplied Keane a killer pass and everyone was celebrating the goal before it hit the post!  I was almost crying with disbelief! Heartbreaking stuff.

So just a point this time. That result puts us on 57 points with only one point required from our last game to qualify for Europe. However, a win against Man City and Everton losing would put us into 5th, which would be very satisfying indeed, equalling our position last season.

Whilst I remember, I just have to mention the funniest moment of the game which was a song from the Park Lane end. With hardly any Blackburn support to speak of, the chant of "what time's your minibus" echoed out and the rest of the ground applauded them. I believe Spurs must have the largest repertoire of songs of any team. Amongst them tonight were:

Glory glory Tottenham Hotspur
You can stick Sol Campbell up your arse
Dimitar Berbatov
COYS
We are Tottenham super Tottenham from the Lane
Martin Jol's blue & white army
Yid army
There's only one Keano
Jermain Defoe's a Yidio
We're Park Lane/We're Shelf side
If you hate Ars*nal stand up
Yids
Are you Chelsea in disguise

Haha! You've gotta love the atmosphere. Anyway, I digress even more with three questions:

1) Why was JD wearing a shirt with a ripped sleeve?
2) Why was Rob Styles squeezing Robbo's bicep?
3) Why was Pascal sporting a girly hairstyle?

Answers on a postcard please...or just leave a comment!
