They have improved a lot recenty under Hughes (who I believe is a good manager)  this will NOT be easy.
We fought out a 0-0 in last seasons FA cup (or was it the season before) at the cottage before progressing through on the reply at WHL.
I firmly believe it will be as tough this time round. Fulham have picked up some key wins recently at home and will fancy their chances against us

After Arrys recent stament re Crouch whats the betting he starts!!

Wish Defoe would come back into form he has a serious case of the DB's at mo (Darren Bents) and cant find the fecking goal

A nice shop window display from all 3 wouldnt do any harm, gutted Pavs face dont fit as far as Arry is concerned given a run of games he would do well for us.

Shop windows don't get you through to the next round.... we have gone off the boil a wee bit recently and I really hope that 'Arry puts out our absolute best side and gets the job done.

If we are 3 nil up with 15 mins to go then then bring on the deadwood but for goodness sake this is the FA Cup no mistakes get the job done, winning is a habit and relying on our second string is not an option against another Premiership side !!!!!!

Shame we are playing them just as they seem to have found some form, for a little while at the end of last year i thought they looked like heading down and out in the EPL.

I just hope we scrape through somehow, the FA Cup weekends suck when you have been knocked out.

Think i would take a replay (game congestion or not i just want to still be in the mix)

Have a feeling Pav could shine if just given the chance.

Think I'll be helping my girlfriend move tomorrow and will have to miss this one. I would like to see Harry shake things up a bit up front though. If Pav is staying let him start FFS.

Think i'll go to the pub tomorrow to watch this one...it should be a good cup tie....both teams should go for the win..i know we will, as the last thing we would need/want is a replay..even though i predicted a 2-2 draw in the prediction thread!

Team line up anyone?

Gomes; Corluka, Gallas, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Jenas, Modric, Kranjcar; Van der Vaart; Pavlyuchenko.

Loan signing Gael Kakuta is cup-tied for Fulham, but new recruit Steve Sidwell is available for the Cottagers.
Bobby Zamora (leg), Philippe Senderos (Achilles) and Matthew Briggs (calf) are out and Mark Schwarzer is away on Asian Cup duty with Australia.
Tottenham's Gareth Bale is out with back trouble but Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Heurelho Gomes and Wilson Palacios should all return from injury.
Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate and Tom Huddlestone are all still sidelined.

After a week of no transfer business going on and a very frustrating and annoying month, a win to the next round should be a good antidote and something else nice to think about. We could do without a replay but i have a feeling that we will draw then take them back to The Lane and smash them there. Harry should start Pav, if he wants to stay then give the bloke games! I dont want to see many changes just field the best and strongest team available. Also on another note did anyone see Bentleys goal yesterday against Coventry? What a screamer!!! f**king belting strike! Good too see him playing well there hopefully he will come back a better player. YID ARMY

im not being funny, but wtf is that formation harry picked to start with?

vdv on the right, lennon on the left and Pienaar and Modric in the middle?

why not, just play Pienaar in Bales Position and leave the rest the same.

or play Jenas and Sandro instead of Modric seeing as it's only the FA cup
Title: Re: Fulham v Tottenham - FA Cup
Post by: Gareth Keown on January 30, 2011, 06:01:36 PM
didnt Arry do the same at 0-2 down h/t against Ars*nal, when he subbed off Lennon and played Vaart on the right cutting inside, allowing the RB to overlap.....the difference is that the huge gamble worked, that day.....

4-4-2... or..... Vaart plus lone-striker ??.........

the answer should now be obvious, even to the die-hards..

This is a combination of harry not knowing his best 11 and the teams inability to acquire cohesion as a result. Yes this has been coming in a while. Playing two of the most error prone players side by side in defence has cost up. Why corluka isnt the number 1 choice I dont know. But at least we have crouch on. Harrys back up plan. I hope levy is watching.!

Yup,

442

Gomes

Hutton (Though I'd prefer Walker)
Dawson
Gallas
Assou Ekotto

Huddlestone
Pienaar
Modric
VDV

Defoe
Pav

Still can't find room for Mr.Jenas though   :ohyeah:

Bale for Benny when fit!

absolutely abysmal result.schoolboy defending, was inclined to give Bassong the benefit of the doubt but its becoming abundantly clear he cant cut the mustard.Have never really been keen on Hutton either our defensive shortcomings are coming back to haunt us

Can't really blame hutton for the Penalty. He was just trying to recover from Dawsons Mistake.

tbh, i have no idea why Gomes passed it to Dawson in the first place from the goal kick

fair enough mate thats what makes football the game it is everyone can have their own opinion

Hutton is a defender who cant defend and crouch a striker who cant score. Self explanatory really.

I swicthed off at half time, glad I did as reading the summary Crouch replaced Defoe after the break, I think that would have been enough to make me slame my fist through my computer screen.  We need 4 goals so we bring on our most useless ineffective striker (but harrys fav) Kran or pav would have been a better option.

Hopefully next match we will see Kaboul return at CB, until his Zidane moment he was playing well defensively and chipping in with goals, sorry to say my hopes re Bassong for the future looks a no go he isnt even good enough to be a sub in the EPL.

cherry-picking infrequently repeated  individual incidents to back up any opinion is very poor analysis...

Hutton and Bassong have played several games and have looked solid enough... Hutton is also there as an attacking option which allows the RM to come inside... the slow Corluka doesnt/cannot give us that option... and I've counted several errors by Corluka to match any Hutton has made over the last 1-2yrs..

Dawson, tho in good form recently, was the most to blame... 1st the error that lead to Hutton making a desperate tackle for the 1st pen.... 2nd, the easy way he Dawson was robbed of the ball followed by the brainless foul leading instantly to a red-card and penalty...... by far our worst culprit today...

after the 2 Dawson gaffes, the team had to push up to get goals back, which inevitably led to huge gaps in our midfield and backline for the opposition to exploit with there 2 pacy strikers....

unfortunately, the unbalanced team with Vaart and lone-striker Defoe upfront is playing just as I thought it must do...with inevitable results

Actually, I think GK's analysis is pretty fair. Dawson is almost singlehandedly responsible for both this year's AND last year's FA Cup exits. Just calling it like I see it. I still think the red card was reactionary and way too quick - the pass leading to the first penalty, however, was mind-boggling. We just haven't been very good at all without Bale.

Thankfully, ASF and myself decided not to watch the game at the pub. Could have been a very ugly scene...

100%

He is not a premier league player...he's a championship player at best..i said on here about 4 months ago that i would drive him away from WHL myself and yesterday just proved me right again...hes brutal.

The guy who scored there 4th goal just walked passed him as if he wasnt there...we are going to have to get used to him now in the team for a while as we have nobody else. >:(

in the last 2yrs+ I've seen Bassong beaten that easily maybe 2-3 times max.... mostly he's a talented leftsided CB with great confidence, pace and a great left-foot...

if you want a CB who quite regularly gets walked past by forwards over the past 4yrs+, look no further than the main culprit from the last match Dawson.... just ask Torres, Adebayor, Martins, Agbonlahor, C.Jerome, Kevin Davies, to name just a few...

It would be nice to see Dawson use his brain a bit more, he's a proper defender and not one that should be turning players.
