if as I suspect Vaart plays with Defoe as lone-striker , it will be the Everton and Wet Spam game all over again..... we will not only lose, but be totally outplayed in the process...

the fundermental flaws with Vaart-Defoe or Vaart-Crouch havent changed...

Imo, it can work, all it means is that vdv has to drop off less and play more of a 442.

I hear to many people say Keane and Defoe didn't work, which is crap.

The 2 seasons before Berbatov came, and we nearly finished 4th both seasons under Jol, Keane and Defoe was our main 2 strikers and they did well.

so there nothing that suggest that  vdv and Defoe can't work.

the only thing going against them is that they haven't play alot together

1) the season before Berbatov came when we finished just outside Top4 due to Lasagnegate, it was a chap called Mido was the primary striker.... Defoe and mainly Keano played alongside him.... Defoe-Keano hardly ever featured unless Mido was unavailable (mainly African Nations Cup period)..

2) and the season before that, there was a chap called Kanoute who played a similar primary role to Mido..... with Keano n Defoe alternating again..

I'm quite surprised at you not remembering.... you being a Spurs supporter and all..

back to today..... hopefully we go more 4-2-3-1.... Bale n Lennon better step inside it more today...

"You" ? So much for "we", eh? You realize that the Crouch-VDV combo has accounted for the majority of Rafa's goals right? Crouch has 6 assists - everyone of them to VDV. Ask the opposition how they feel about the pairing. Van admittedly loves playing with Crouch - and we know very little about a pairing with Defoe because of the long layoff.

The most goal Kanoute ever scored for us was 12 in 2003-04 season

The most goals Mido ever scored for us was 11 in 2005-06

If you look at all them stats Keane and Defoe where far more effective

so stop talking crap

as I recall, Mido was an auto-starter whenever he was available the season when we finished 5th that fateful last day..

not sure that changes the fact that when he was at Spurs the 1st time around, he was an auto-starter...

think we sold him cos he had problems controlling his ballooning weight.... and the little matter of a chap called Berbatov arriving..

in the last 5yrs, Keane-Defoe have NEVER been the 1st-choice strikeforce.... not under Jol, Ramos or Arry...
