De Eredivisie

Onyone likes this competition?

I thnik it's a nice competition. Not as good as the Premier League, Primera Division, Serie A or Bundesliga....... But comparable with Portugese Liga and the French Ligue 1.

Which club u prefer in Holland? Which players u like? Are u watchin' the matches?

Talk about it here!

I don't get a match with a Dutch side unless it's UCL or UEFA Cup, but I do keep tabs on it because there are a few Canadian players playing there. Don't like Jono de Guzman, though - he's Canadian but would rather play for the Netherlands, even though he has no Dutch connections whatsoever. We're not going to get any better if our players keep ditching. :p

That said, I really like Feyenoord anyway because a) they have another Canadian, Jacob Lensky, and b) a family friend of mine and her family are from the Rotterdam area. Can't say I mind Ajax, either ;) Good side, they are. Lots of tradition.

I don't really have a "hated side" there. Although as a casual Feyenoord supporter, something tells me I'll eventually come to hate Sparta :Green_Colorz_PDT_16

Waha, glad you like Ajax too. The Feyenoord-thing is pity, but.....

And yeah, Jonathan de Guzman is a real class act. One of the best Feyenoord-players, glad he wants to join the Dutch team! :D

Jacob Lensky also is very talented.

And, uhm... Heracles Almelo also has a Canadian player in their squad. Rob Friend, the striker who's on loan from SC Heerenveen.

I like AZ Alkmaar, purely as they knocked out the Barcode :tossa:s.

I'm not too big a fan of Rob Friend. He's good - he single-handedly kept Molde from getting relegated two seasons ago and won them the NM up in Norway - but he's kinda dirty. Apparently he can't keep his elbows in. The thing that really pisses me off about Jono is that his older brother Julian plays for Canada. I'd rather see Jono play for Canada, because this country needs players like him. But obviously he has no love for this country, just like Hargreaves didn't :(

Here's the official Canadians list from the Voyageurs (Canadian football fan club) site:

Jonathan de Guzman - Feyenoord (Dutch Eredivisie) (1)
Rob Friend - SC Heerenveen (Dutch Eredivisie) (1)
Josh Wagenaar - ADO Den Haag (Dutch Eredivisie) (1)
Marcel de Jong - Roda JC (Dutch Eredivisie) (1)
Will Johnson - SC Heerenveen (Dutch Eredivisie) (1)
Jacob Lensky - Feyenoord (Dutch Eredivisie) (1) Reserves
Graham Ramalho - Jong Groningen (Dutch Eredivisie) (1)
Robbie Giezen - Groningen (Dutch Eredivisie) (1) A-jeugd
Marcus Haber - Groningen (Dutch Eredivisie) (1) A-jeugd
Michael Nonni - Groningen (Dutch Eredivisie) (1) A-jeugd
Matt Lam - Ajax (Dutch Eredivisie) (1) A1
Dylan Hughes - VVV-Venlo (Dutch Eerste Divisie) (2)
on loan from RKC Waalwijk (Dutch Eredivisie) (1)
Brandon Bonifacio - Cambuur-Leeuwarden (Dutch Eerste Divisie) (2) Reserves

Well, whad'ya know? Ajax has a Canook in its system too! :D

I think only England and Germany have more Canadian players playing abroad in their country than the Netherlands. Norway is getting up there, too. So too is Hungary, oddly enough, there's this one second-division side that seems more obsessed with our guys than I am :Green_Colorz_PDT_42

The bolded ones, are the ones I know.... I logically don't know all the youthplayers exactly, so......

And yeah, AZ knoced out NUFC-s**t and they overclassed Middlesbrough two years ago. But even AZ was much better, the match ended in 0-0, hehe.

Steve Sidwell won't go to Ajax I don't think. He is too settled with English football and at Reading.

However, he is a very good player and I think would fit well in with Ajax..?

Roda JC are my team in Holland. May seem a strange choice but when I went to Holland for the first time I was near Roda and went to see them play. They won 3-1 against Heerenveen. From then on I supported them. I also watched the Australian national team play against thr Netheralands at Roda's stadium.

Other than Roda I would have to say it would be Ajax. Great players, Great fans and they're Yids like us.
