Gallas' first return the the Emirates. He should be up for it.

IF KIng was fit for this one, i would be confident that we would keep a clean sheet, with King and Gaallas at the back. Because King is always up for the Ars*nal games

I think the best we can hope for from this is just simple defeat, not defeat and humiliation  :'(

For me it really all depends which Spurs team turns up on the day and how they tackle it mentally.

Not feeling optomistic on this one though

they will as usual flood the midfield, we lack a lone-striker to effectively play 5 in midfield...... 3-1 home win.

Once again you show your true colours Gareth, I think we will draw but I hope that we can sneak a win and end this absurd so called record that the Media keep rolling out !!!!

not sure you can tell whether I am or not from ythat statement.... its very likely to most that Ars*nal will win..

I actualy would like Spurs to win, but if we can't then I want Ars*nal to win the 3pts rather than both teams draw for a measley point each... I want Ars*nal to win the title this year, and teach moneybag-clubs like Chavski you can't buy success...

As Ugs has said your showing your true colours now again....a measley point!...most, if not all Spurs fans would take a point now before the game even starts!..i know i would anyway....so you claim to like/follow/support/like to see them do well/..... but you want Ars*nal to win the league!!

You couldn't make it up!

Unbelievable!

Derry.... thats cos Ars*nal winning the league would stick 2-fingers up at all those experts like Hansen especially, and those tabloid jounos that claim you have to spend big to win things.....

Ars*nal winning the title would prove that there is another.... better... way...

'Cause the media would just HATE to see Ars*nal win the title, right? Gimme a break! I'm American and I can see how biased your media is toward the "big 4" clubs ESPECIALLY ManU and Ars*nal. In ManU's case it's more of an expectation, though. There is a smug confidence that Manure will succeed. The commentators actually get excited about Arse doing well, gushing all over them with grotesque superlatives, and bending the reality we witness with our own eyes to suit their Arsehole agenda. It's just like the media bias toward the Boston and New York clubs over here.

If we were near full strength Spurs would humilate them in their building. Even as it is, I think we may have something for them. Even if we don't get the result we want - I'm throwin' a couple of middle fingers up. It won't be long...

It could come down to a point that determines if we finish 4th or 5th. Even if that wasn't the case I would never prefer to see us lose than draw to Ars*nal. It's Ars*nal FFS. They already think this fixture is as good as won against us. This is 3 points as usual to them. f**k that. I'll take a draw over giving them 3 points any day.

Title: Re: Ars*nal v Tottenham
Post by: Gareth Keown on November 17, 2010, 02:21:01 PM
I want a club with a coach who believes in developing young talent oversimply opening the chequebook and  buying ready-made players for meaningless 'success'....

if Wenger does it this season in the days when the likes of Chavski and now Abu Dhabi County think they can stick 2 fingers up at SPORT...and turn the Prem title into just a sleazy little auction, then I will be well happy...

if it means Spurs lose out by a point for Top4, then so be it..

Principles before expediency..... every single time.

Back on topic.

I think if we are going to get anything from this game we should be targeting there two centre halves, who by the looks of things will be Djourou and Squillaci...Djourou is brutal and a ageing Squillaci is not much better..I would start with Crouch and Pav if he's fit to play..i know it's not the way we play, but i would be trying to hit our strikers at every opportunity...there defence is not great..Bale should have the beating of  Sagna all day..he's not the best right-back around...good quality ball up to and into Crouch and hopefully Pav from the wings is the key for me...these two are excellent at holding the ball up for us also...we are not going to beat them at their game thats for sure..we ave to get the ball up in their half and make it stick..the further away from our goal the better..obviously!
Title: Re: Ars*nal v Tottenham
Post by: Gareth Keown on November 17, 2010, 04:01:32 PM
I totally disagree about Djourou cos I rate him as 1 of the best young upcoming CBs in world football.... the guy has everything except experience which he would have got last season but for longterm injury..

but I agree with you on tactics of playing Crouch n Pav for this 1..... and therefore leaving vdV on the bench..

still think that we will struggle to get the ball outta our own half for most of the game...

And play Jenas instead eh Gareth.... leave out the one player who's on fire, a world class attacking midfielder who's scoring regular goals for the team....... un f**king believeable !!!!!!!!!

Nurse Nurse Gareth's forgotten to take his medication again theres nothing for it now but to do a full frontal labotomy... that should stop him spouting s**t !!!!!

Ugly..

so youre answer to Ars*nal's 5 in midfield is to drop Jenas so that you can play Modric with vdV in the centre-midfield instead....

sure thats not TOO defensive now ??  :2funny:

Post by: aspursfan on November 17, 2010, 06:58:57 PM
One thing I can say with some confidence is that the game is not going to end 0-0. There's no point trying to set us up defensively. We need to go forward and hope to score more than they do.
Title: Re: Ars*nal v Tottenham
Post by: Biggs on November 19, 2010, 01:49:03 PM
I'm feeling real confident about this today.

I think we can get a result tomorrow.

tbh Ars*nal haven't been playing to great over there last couple of home games... and we have shown recently in the big matches we turn it on.

I think vdv will play a big part tomorrow and i think he will be really up for it considering its his first NLD.

Title: Re: Ars*nal v Tottenham
Post by: Gareth Keown on November 19, 2010, 03:21:56 PM
I think this game will be the easiest for Ars*nal for the last 2-3 seasons.... vdV if played will prove a liability for this one..

if we play Crouch with Pav upfront, and have Crouch drop off into the hole, then I think we have a chance.... but then that probably means vdV playing RM instead of Lennon, and we will leave Hutton isolated on the counter after vdV saunters upfield and central..

easy Arse win I'm afraid...
Title: Re: Ars*nal v Tottenham
Post by: Biggs on November 19, 2010, 04:04:37 PM
Personally i think Palacios needs to play tomorrow. We need someone in there to get stuck in.
Title: Re: Ars*nal v Tottenham
Post by: ugs on November 19, 2010, 04:16:53 PM
                        Gomes

Hutton        Gallas      Kaboul         BAE

Lennon        Palacious    Modric      Bale

                     Van der Vaart

                         Crouch

I would guess we will line up something like this not sure if Lennons fit, so maybe Bentley on the right. (OK Gareth pick holes in this line up with your superior footballing knowledge !!)

you really are getting desperate now I sense.... since when has Arry played Palacios ahead of Jenas in big games recently.... or even... ever ??..... and doesnt a certain player we all know do rather well against the Arse for some reason ??...

2-0 to me methinks there...

still easy win for the home team... Arry will play vdV even tho deep down he knows its the wrong choice...

When modric was playing left mid, who was the 2 in the centre Gareth?

Suggesting a player who gets stuck in and who is actually good defensively, so we can get the best out of our attacking players, is hardly desperate. It's common sense, because it will give us far better balance.

I feel if Jenas starts with Modric, we will get over run in midfield. But with Modric and Palacios i will have far more confidence.

and lets face it, harry will not pick Jenas over modric,  when has Arry played Jenas ahead of Modric in big games recently.... or even... ever ??.
Title: Re: Ars*nal v Tottenham
Post by: Gareth Keown on November 19, 2010, 09:41:11 PM
I agree that Arry will play Modric as much as possible.... but not for the reasons you slavishly give..

the dillusion that Modric is a good CM is better to foster, at least til January, then to play Jenas regularly.... if you get beaten the fans wont grumble with that.... Arry likes to have the white-van men on his side (just ask Ghaly and his 'substitution; by Arry)....

thats why Palacios will probably not play, as Arry will pick Modric-Jenas instead... which actually isnt too bad, as long as you sub Modric after 70mins..

the reason why we will lose, and I think lose heavily 2moro, is because Arry will also play vdV.... which in THIS game will be pure suicide... just wait and watch what happens...

White van men?

i think palacios might play but his form is not as good as Jenas unfortunately. Its either Modders dropped for 442 with Jenas VdV middle or with Modders and VdV on the right as Lennon is injured.

Or maybe Sandro but i doubt 'Arry will trust Sandro in this huge match.

Ars*nal centre-back Laurent Koscielny is available after serving a two-game ban for his red card against Newcastle.
Midfielder Jack Wilshere has been passed fit after recovering from the back problem he picked up at Bolton.
Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe returns to the squad after ankle surgery, and could win a place on the bench.
Aaron   Lennon may make his comeback from a hamstring problem, but fellow   midfielder Niko Kranjcar is doubtful with a calf injury.

The Manchester derby may have disappointed but it is hard to imagine a   bore draw in the 147th league meeting of these north London rivals. The   last six encounters in league and cup have produced a total of 25 goals,   including a memorable 4-4 draw at the Emirates two years ago.

Ars*nal know a win will take them top of the table for the first time   since March, increasing the pressure on Chelsea when they kick-off   against Birmingham. Tottenham have not won on Gunners soil since 1993   but they did end a decade-long wait for a league win against Arsene   Wenger's men when the sides met in April.
Both sides looks   defensively vulnerable. Ars*nal remain without Thomas Vermaelen, while   injuries to Ledley King and Michael Dawson have robbed Spurs of their   first-choice centre-backs. Their continued absence has meant William   Gallas has played a key role - he was released by Ars*nal this summer   after the club claimed his contract demands were "extravagant", but his   experience could prove invaluable for the visitors.
Tottenham   boss Harry Redknapp appears to have decided attack is the best form of   defence judging by his line-up against Blackburn last weekend, when two   orthodox strikers (Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko) were supported   by an attack-minded midfield of Rafael van der Vaart, Gareth Bale, Luka   Modric and Jermaine Jenas.
While Redknapp will be wary of   Ars*nal's counter-attacking threat, he could be emboldened by   Newcastle's victory at the Emirates a fortnight ago, when the Magpies   surprised many by starting with two up front.

46mins 25secs...... just beautiful the way Nasri gets the ball in CM with Modric 8yds ahead of him, he passes it wide then strolls past Modric to get the 1-2 back and drives into the box.... Modric just jogging back at half the pace....

THAT in a nutsack is why Modric is a huge liability at CM in a side playing a flat-4 in midfield with 2not 1 but 2 wingers...

will Arry now have the GUTS to sub off the totally ineffective vdV and bring on DeFoe or Crouch... and play a f**king proper 4-4-2...

Kaboul the MOTM so far.... still Spurs best rihtside crosser of a ball by a distance too..

they will as usual flood the midfield, we lack a lone-striker to effectively play 5 in midfield...... 3-1 home win.

I love when your wrong.

You're not actually a Spurs fan are you, let's be honest, there is no true Spurs fan in the world who would want to see Ars*nal winning the League especially if it meant Spurs missing out on fourth, finishing fourth is so crucial to our development as a club it is laughable that you could even consider giving it up for your pathetic "principles". Seriously mate I sit behind who I thought was the biggest moron in the world for every home game, he knows so little about Spurs or football as a whole it is unreal, however you my friend make him seem like a bastian of footballing knowledge you complete and utter cretin.

2-0 with vdV in the 'midfield'..... 0-3 with a proper 4-4-2...

we still got hugely lucky.... but its only the luck we didnt have against small teams at WHL eg. Wigan..

Gallas was MOTM for me. I think Hutton didn't have the best of game for me.

We King or Dawson are fit, Kaboul RB with Dawson/ King with Gallas

just glad that Spurs got the 3pts... my 1st choice from my posts from yesterday.... and that Ars*nal are still only 2pts off the lead after Brum's win..

glad the result makes the little ppl happy.....

Well that was exciting and to be fair we have played a lot better than that and lost !!!  First half we were poor both full backs looked vunerable Lennon and Bale struggled to get anywhere near into the game and for me Lennon dosen't look fully fit. Today Gallas actually played to his potential and was definitely MOTM but first half both Jenas and Pav were poor as a defensive midfielder Jenas just wandered around and Pav just didn't hold up the ball or cause the CB's any problems. Second half though with VDV on the right and Defoe occupying the CB's we looked a lot more of a threat, great pass by VDV for Bale to score from, and Modric looked far more effective surging forward with a couple of nice shots. But credit where credit is due Jenas played Fabregas out of the game second half never gave him a moment, why oh why can't he play like that every game with that level of commitment he obviously has the ability but just dosen't use it.

Lets hope we can use this result and push on in both the League and CL, like I say we have played far better and lost, but  its days like today that make me realise why I support Spurs, but beating the Woolwich Wanderers on their own turf is ................ well you can't put it into words!!!

ugly..

1) we dont have a specific defensive-midfielder.... if we did then the midfield would swiftly become a diamond (1 DM 1 AM and 2 slightly wide) which it so obviously isnt....

in our system we use 2 CM who actually have to both defend and support the attack.... and Modric was even more ineffective than Jenas at that, if you wannna compare defensive displays of the 2 CMs..

2) by your own admission, you thought Jenas had a good game overall... but isnt that yet another good game this season to add to Blackbym, Villa, Bremen, Inter (both games 2nd half), etc.... not to mention the great spell of consistent play for the 4 month period after Arry 1st joined (when he and Palacios were the CMs).... you can hardly count last season's limited games as he was virtually injured the whole time...

so I ask you again.... where is this fanciful period of games you keep mentioning.... when Jenas has been regularly inconsistent.... and by that, I mean more so than other players like THudd or Modric (who presumably play amazing games every single game, no doubt)...

epic fail on both counts.......you  really must examine your Jenas attack-ploys more studiously...

Went away with the family to the mountains for the weekend. I was pretty bummed because I knew that I would have to miss the Ars*nal game (and Colts/Patriots tomorrow). When we arrived I discovered that our cabin is equipped with sattelite TV and wireless internet. SCORE! I awakened at 6am and watched the match with the entire family set to a gorgeous panoramic backdrop. My mood was pretty dark after the opening horror goal but we kept the faith and it has become a glorious all day celebration! COME ON YOU SPURS!!! The best part was when my brother-in-law watching his first Spurs game called Kaboul's goal. When VDV lined up thee free kick he said, "that big thick dude with the yellow cleats oughta be able to muscle those little bitches and head this one in..." BOOM! I think the whole mountain heard about it. I had to watch my language cuz of the kids but I had to do a lap around the cabin. GLORIOUS! And Rafa had his hand in all three goals - "completely ineffective" my ass! Loved it when he told the stunned crowd to shut up and sit down. I'll take that yellow card anyday. Thought Harry's decisions were spot on and well timed. What a day!

Was working today so sky-plussed the game to watch later. Most difficult thing is to manage to get home without friends or family or phone filling me in on the result and spoiling the game for me. Manged to remain in suspense and watch the game which felt almost "live" and man was it worth it. Great spirit for the comeback and I am absolutely delighted for Gallas as he was immense. Glad to see him answer the boos with a motm performance. Watching le paedo throw his water bottle on the turf was priceless. Roll on champs league

Heh, even after Wenger requested that they not boo him? Real classy, Ars*nal fans. ::)

It is good, though, when players turn negatives like that into positives. :)

I got to the gym just before half time and saw the scoreline, was hoping for a draw at best then I thought if we could come back and win 2-3 what a result that would and carried on training.

Then in between sets I checked the score 2-1, 2-2 then the gym got rattled by my loud aggressive "f***in yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees" when Kaboul popped up with a trade mark header and made it 2-3.

That 5 minutes stoppage time went on for ever!

Gallas played well, I maybe have been wrong about him which if so is great for THFC a few more games needed though!

Lets move on from this result now we need to build some consistancy!!!!!!

Proud of the lads !!!

Watching MOTD, would love to see N'Zogbia at Spurs, offers far more than the Leeds midget.
I appreciate that Lennon isn't match fit but was hugely disappointed with his 'contribution' yesterday.
Still, WE WON!

Just reading these comments is making me sit here so hungover but with a giant smile on my face! Wilson - Sounded like a quality mate, the family, beautiful scenery and having your brother predict the third goal, running round the cabin! Priceless. I went out last night and got hammered and at every possible moment gloated about the result and rubbed it in every Ars*nal (and chelsea) fans face! I couldnt stop myself, im 22 and when we last won away at there place i was 5 so i dont have any memories of that! My throat is so soar from shouting and ive completely lost my voice, screaming and dancing around in a packed pub in Bristol with loads of Spurs and more Ars*nal! This result is right up there with the best of them, what a f**king amazing comeback, you just couldnt write this s**t! Enjoy it my friends, and i know we will be seeing more of this in years to come! YID ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
