Well the window is open...
Discuss any rumours/Transfers/Thoughts here.
I don't think we'll sign anybody, I still think another forward needs it be brang in. Just incase Kane got injured or something on the lines on that.
Window shuts at Feb 1st 23.00.
-
According to the press we won't or shouldn't sign Saido Berahino because he could end up disrupting Spurs team spirit with his attitude (i.e. would he be prepared to sit on the bench while Kane is playing well?).
I think we still want a striker, but we won't sign for the sake of it. I hope we do sign another striker.
-
If we are going to sustain our top four challenge we need another striker. But I do agree with Southend Yid, that I think it is unlikely we will get another striker. But we can only hope.
-
There are rumours about a central defender from marseilles. Strange! and a young midfielder. Strange again! but rumours of a striker? No. Even more strange.!
With 3 weeks to go, I think we will sign somebody, hopefully a striker other than Berahino, but probably not until the last minute.

The young midfielder is from Ebbsfleet, had a trial with us a while back and, I believe went to the American tournament.
Poch has included Harrison in the 1st team environment a bit, hasn't he? Maybe he feels he will be able to cover Kane if needed.
I have to be honest, and I know this goes against the grain a bit, but Poch has gone on record as absolutely not wanting anyone who doesn't fit his fairly specific requirements - we could have had Charlie Austin in the summer, apparently, but Poch rejected the idea. It wasn't because he is a poor player, or wouldn't score goals or anything, just that he doesn't match the technical requirements the Head coach wants. Having a player in who the manager/head coach is reluctant to play, rarely gets game time, knows he's on borrowed time, feels he isn't getting a fair crack, etc., can cause a bad atmosphere - and team-spirit is something we have in shed loads ATM. Pochettino rates that attribute very highly. Speaking recently he stated this again and reiterated that we have Son and Chadli who he feels can cover for Kane if needed. Given how well Dier has adjusted to central midfield, and how many slated Poch for doing it before seeing how it turned out, I feel that he has done enough to earn our trust. That said, I would prefer proper cover to arrive...just so long as it is 'proper' cover that has been sourced and analysed by the club (Mitchell in his top secret dark room), and not some stop-gap that no-one is happy with and isn't happy being there.

Spot on as far as some players not fitting in and Charlie Austin is one of them as is Berahino. We have to admire Poc for bringing in this bond into the team.
Dier and Ali are probbaly the 2 players that have a the brightest future with us or wherever else they go for that matter
Lamela gets better every time seem him play
Both our central defenders are first class
Lloris is brilliant
Rose is, imo, a far better player than Davies will ever be
Son is settling down very well indeed
Eriksen can have some poor games but still remains one of our best players
What can I say about Kane that hasn't already been said
It just leaves Walker who still needs to grow up. imo.
I mentioned a striker in my last post, but do we really need to add anyone else this moth?

What happens if Kane get injured? Or we have a few injuries.

There are others who can score and it would be good to see what Son or Lamela could do upfront if that happened!
(We could always ask free agent Adebayor to fill the gap! :2funny:)
-
I think yesterdays game highlights our shortcomings when certain key players are missing, such as Verthonghen, Delli Ali, Dembelle and Kane.
Personally I am not totally happy with any of the fullbacks, though Rose and Walker get the vote as it stands. Carroll, Bentaleb, Mason struggle at top level. Lamela I just cannot see him ever living up to his transfer fee. Son is rather like Eriksen, very talented but fades in games.
I will repeat what I have thought all season. We need a pacy winger who can deliver a decent final ball, and another striker. We are continually stuggling to score against teams that have an organised defence. Otherwise I unfortunately see Chelsea overhauling us before the end of the season, as a lack of goals is starting to cause us problems in almost every game.

I think we saw what Son can do up front on his own against Leicester, not very much unfortunately.

There were games that Kane didn't do much either. And don't forget that Son has scored for us in the past.

Not really Transfer news, but still some good news. Alli has signed a new deal until 2021.
p.s Stop quoting every post when replaying, it looks so untidy. :hide: :P
-
It seems that Saido Berahino wants to come to Spurs, rejecting all other requests that come in for him. There has been some question marks over him in the last couple of months, but I think he is worth the chance.

Yes, brilliant news. He is such a talent. To go straight into the main team shows how talented he is.
As for Saido Berahino, I am not sure about him and I wonder if Spurs are questioning his mental state, after his up and down season after the Summer Transfer window hostility between us and WBA. He wants to leave and he wants to come to us, according to the press. But if he does come he won't be playing in every game.

I think that if he was coming to us, then we would have done the deal by now. There are probably unresolved issues, and frankly I am not bothered if we don't get him. He is probably more trouble than he is worth, and definitely overpriced.

Kane is going to have moments of dry spells, like the Leicester game. That is why we need a recognized striker to back him up. There is a load of speculations in the papers and media, but nothing concrete. Next season the league will get more money, and of course we will also get more money by finishing in the top 4, so a striker will be money well spent.

You should meet with Daniel levi and tell him this!

As mentioned by Poch, its another striker that we need, not a backup for Kane. Someone who can play with him, for example as was needed against Leicester when 1 striker obviously wasn't working. Having 4-2-3-1 as our only option is not enough.
All the best sides always had 2 strikers who played together.
-
I can't imagine the manager will play two strikers up front all the time. If we get another striker then he will only be used when we need more fire power or to replace Kane. :hide: :hide:
-
I don't know what to make of the papers reporting the transfer window. One minute we are going to buy a certain player, then it is denied, then changed and then another player is foisted upon us. According to the press there are three players we are going after. But of course it is all paper talk to get you at it.

Could we see Gareth Bale back at Tottenham? According to leaked papers, obtained by “Football Leaks,” it says that Real Madrid are obliged to inform Spurs of any bid they receive from any Premier league club; and if they can match the buying price then he must go back to Spurs. The leaked papers also said that Real Madrid played more for the Spurs star than actually was stated by the press. As this document was supposed to be secret there is now an investigation to find out who leaked these details.
The question is; would Spurs want him back? Could they afford him and his wages?
-
It seems Moussa Dembele, the Fulham striker, is on Spurs radar. Fulham has also asked that if Spurs should purchase him they want to loan him back until the end of the season. From Spurs point of view - if this is so - would be pointless as they would want him for cover. Still a long way to go - just over a week - before knowing who we've got, if anybody. There has been a lot of names thrown into the hat. Let us hope one of them we get.
-
A good player, let us hope we get him. But I don't agree that we should loan him back to Fulham. We need another striker, now, not at the end of the season.
-
Even if we could afford him, will he accept Pochettino's role? Or does he think he has out grown us? I for one would love to see him back at Spurs, but I doubt it.
-
I loved Gareth Bale when he was still here, and I still love him. And I still watch him play on TV. A great player. It would be great if he came back here, but I can't see it somehow. As for the Fulham striker, yes. I think he will fit in with our system and style
-
1. We coudn't afford to buy Bale back, let alone pay his salary! and where would he fit in Poc's system?
Having said that, I would love to see him back at the Lane :smitten:
2. The "other Moussa Dembele (Moussa with 2 ss) has several other options opened to him from France, Italy and even Germany, so that one, although very interesting, defo not in the bag yet!
3. There is a number of other names linked to us that keep changing on a daily basis, too many and methinks that we will remain as we are after the window has closed, that is with Son coming in when Kane has a rest. Thats' not too bad imo.
-
Shaquile Coulthirst has gone to Peterbrough, I didn't see him play in a Spurs shirt but I saw him play For Southend last season on he's loan spell.

Every time you read the paper a new name will pop up. At least there is just over a week to go before we are put out of our misery. We have a good squad at the moment, so we will have to wait and see.

It's funny, though - that was always my understanding of Poch, he wants players for his system and if you don't fit you don't get in (as evidenced by last summers' departures).
But in a recent interview, he was talking about only wanting exceptional players (he named Bale, Messi, Ronaldo). And he said that if he got a player like that he absolutely would play two up front and to hell with rigid formation adherence. Don't know if you saw it, sorry, haven't got a link.

I think he will pick the squad depending on his opponents. In some case he might need two up front.

Townsend has Gone to Newcastle, for what I believe for 12 Million.
Oh and are old friend Adebayor has joined Crystal Palace till the end of the season. :hide:
-
Townsend didn't or couldn't fit into our system and ended up out of favour. As for Ade, less said the better. But I wish Townsend all the best, except when he plays us
-
I am sad to see Townsend go as I was a great fan of his. It was a pity they couldn't resolve their differences. As for the other one, good.

SKY SPORTS have just announced Moussa Dembele from Fulham is having a medical with Spurs right now!, this could be a great signing of a potentially great young forward, he has pace and trickery, good in the air and is very physical so he has all the right attributes we need.
-
Spot on here BlackJack and if this is true, a great asset to the squad.
What will he have on his shirt? Moussa, M Dembele or something else?
-
Yet again this is a deal that looks to have gone south, another Berahino fiasco all over again! SKY SPORTS are reporting the deal is off as Fulham want him loaned back till the end of the season and we do not want that, I cannot believe we are going to waste this window without bringing in another striker to cover or bolster our attack as we are having our best league season and are genuine title contenders! We MUST take advantage of this enormous opportunity as another may not come for many a year!!!, It would be foolish to rely on Kane staying injury free while playing in THREE competitions and expecting other players to try and fill the void though it may be possible but highly unlikely.
Please please THFC get us a quality striker and keep the dream alive before its to late.
-
Tell me something new!
-
If we do not bring in another striker, I think we will live to regret it. Harry Kane is definitely not having as good a season for goals as last year. Even against Colchester he looked out of salts and missed some good opportunities. We really must get some one in to ease the situation. As for who, that as they say is the $64,000 dollar question.
West Brom and Fulham just want to take the piss because they see us as desperate.
-
Well, no signing as predicted! Personnally, I cannot see any problems there other than the Fulham Dembele would have been one for the future. Obviously, Poch wanted him now and who can blame him for not accepting to buy the player and let him back on loan. Perhaps we will get him in the summer for less.
As far as Berahino is concerned, at £25M, far too much, so no great loss imo.
-
Despite our need for a striker, we cannot be held to ransom by clubs like Fulham and West Brom. We will just have to wait and see how our existing players perform over the remainder of the season. It would be a great shame if we do miss out on top four because of a lack of goals. Either way, we have a young squad who will only get better over the next couple of years under Poch and he can bring in players to suit him when available.
-
Maybe just as well. I think some of the clubs wanted to screw us and hold us to ransom. We've got a good squad and now they can show what they are made of. We are chasing three titles. Pochettino can also pick a striker from one of the youngsters.
-
Pochettino said he wouldn't buy any player for the sake of it and he was happy to take from their academy. Now we shall see if his faith has been rewarded.
Jane x
-
Well, the manage is happy with the squad he has got and any new recruits could jeopardize that, so we shall see.
