Match Report (Spammers) & Preview (Newcastle)
The Spammers joystick manager David Moyes called his side’s comeback at our ground “one of the biggest wins I’ve had in football”. Great for him, just not for us Tottenham supporters. That is our fourth defeat under Ange. Where do we go from here? We’ve still got our injury list, and our next games – before Xmas – are Newcastle this Sunday, followed by Forest away and then Everton… the same Everton that thrashed Newcastle at home 3-0. I don’t know if that is good news for us, seeing as we will face both in the next couple of weeks. But before all that…
I said to Mel, let us do some Christmas shopping in the Spurs shop and leave early… we did.
I’ve been going to the Spurs shop since it was a little shack/ store all those years ago. And every year, they decked it out when Christmas came along. Not this time… there was no Christmas feeling in the shop… in fact, they had very little in the way of Christmas gifts. Just meagre display cases. No A4 size diaries, Christmas crackers…or basically anything else that resembled Christmas. For Christ’s sake, it is Christmas… the time of year that shops screw their customers. But the Spurs shop had nothing. I moaned to the manager, and he agreed… end of! I think they’ve missed a trick here. Mugs like me should be rich pickings when Xmas comes along… but nothing… I hardly bought anything. Where is their Christmas spirit? “Christmas is the time of year to screw the customers to the ground and make the owners rich. Anyway, that is my moan over. No doubt I’ll find other channels to throw my money at. Oh, and it was not just me moaning; everybody I talked to, inside and outside the club shop, said the same.
As for the game, Cristian Romero’s early header had given us a deserved opener in the 11th minute as he nodded in Pedro Porro’s corner with a looping effort. But Jarrod Bowen hit back for the Spammers, latching on to a loose ball in the penalty area and firing in a 52nd-minute equaliser. Then, after a poor back pass from Destiny Udogie, James Ward-Prowse side-footed an effort against the post before knocking in the rebound to complete the Milky Bar Kids turnaround in the 74th minute.
The Milky Spammers have won five of their past six fixtures across all competitions, while we suffered our fourth defeat in five and have dropped points from a winning position for a fifth consecutive game. Let us end it here and move on to something more, hopefully, positive; yes, the Newcastle game this Sunday.

Team News
Ivan Perisic (knee), Manor Solomon (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), James Maddison (ankle), Micky van de Ven (thigh), Rodrigo Bentancur (ankle), Ashley Phillips (ankle), Eric Dier (groin) or Alfie Whiteman (ankle) will not return just yet.
Pape Sarr earned a few minutes off the bench after recovering from a knock and is now in contention to displace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, while Richarlison could threaten Brennan Johnson’s place in the XI, too.
My possible starting lineup:
Vicario; Porro, Romero, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Lo Celso, Richarlison; Son
My prediction.
If Everton hadn’t beaten Newcastle 3-0, I would be going for a Newcastle win, however, they did lose, so, therefore, I shall go for a 2-1 win. Wishful thinking or a talent for predicting Tottenham results (or not!).
We lacked ruthlessness against the Fudgers, but there was little that Postecoglou could have done about a double deflection or poor Udogie back pass for both of the Spammer’s goals, and the hosts have a golden opportunity to reignite their attacking fire this weekend.
As the injuries pile up for a Newcastle side who have not travelled well all season – nine goals shipped in their last four road contests; we can lift our home gloom and hopefully get revenge for last season’s beatings at the hands of the Magpies.
Up the Spurs!
