Emerson Royal is happy to be coming to Spurs

By Peter J Arnold

Our new signing Emerson Royal has posted a message articulating his joy on social media ahead of coming to Spurs.

As everybody knows, the club completed their transfer business this summer with the signing of Emerson from Barcelona in the final hours of the transfer window. Emerson joined on a deal worth £26 million, Fabio Paratici’s last signing this summer. The defender will give serious rivalry to Japhet Tanganga and Matt Doherty, who have been alternated by Nuno Espirito Santo during our opening Premier League and Europa Conference League games. At the same time, Serge Aurier left the club on the same day that Emerson arrived (Aurier left on reaching an agreement to terminate his contract).

Hopefully – if all goes well – he should make his debut for us when we face Palace away on Saturday. He is so excited that he posted a tweet on social media.

My views

His signing should add another dimension to our defence, and if Nuno can get everybody working in harmony, we could have a cracking team. This team can challenge for trophies, and we just might get ourselves back into the top four and into Champions League football (where we belong).

We all live in hope. Since Daniel Levy took over the club, his first priority was to build a world-beating stadium; he can tick that box. The next step was to get financial stability, and we are on that path. We have added an eclectic circus of events for our stadium to boots the coffers so that we can eventually compete with the best in the world.

Everything has to start from somewhere, and somewhere was the demolishment of White Hart Lane to allow a Phoenix to rise from the ashes and in its wake a magnificent cash-cow machine that will conquer the footballing world (exciting times ahead).

A bit about our new defender

Emerson Royal must be wondering what hit him. It has been a crazy summer for the player. First, he was a Real Betis star team member, then he was recalled to Barcelona, and now he is with us. I hope all this toing and froing will not upset his equilibrium. We do not want another Tanguy Ndombele amongst our ranks, upsetting the apple cart and throwing everything into disarray.

The International Brazillian player began this summer at Barcelona’s ground, the Camp Nou stadium, however, the Barcelona board implemented a £5million clause in his contract to sign him from their rivals, Betis.

As we all have read in the press, Barcelona’s has financial problems, which means that Emerson’s time with the club was up. So now he is ours… watch this space. We welcome him as a valuable addition to our team.
