Desperation might lead us to look towards the unemployed for a manager
Yes, desperation might force us to look towards the rejected and unemployed to manage us. A new season is approaching fast, and club chairmen might not be prepared to allow us to talk to their managers’ because they are preparing, themselves, for a new season. They certainly don’t want upheaval this close to a new season. Besides, what reputable manager wants to come and work with our shambolic Chairman?
Levy should have been better prepared; this is sloppy chairmanship. And as it has been pointed out, the whole mess has made us a laughing stock. Article after article in the newspapers have commented on how the clowns are running riot at Tottenham. A great stadium, they are saying, but run by PT Barnum and his circus.
Therefore we might have no choice but to go looking amongst the dregs in the abyss to find somebody who can lead us away from the relegation zone and straight into mid-table safety. In other words, somebody who is unemployed because he was not deemed suitable to take control of top club teams or his creditability had sunk to an all-time low. Does that mean we could be knocking on the doors of Glenn Hoddle or Ossie Ardiles?
All this might seem like a joke, however, what is on everybody’s minds is who will we go for next, with some sources suggesting that Levy could revisit their interest in the likes of Erik Ten Hag, Nuno Espirito Santo, Scott Parker or even Ryan Mason. I shall resist the Mr Bean joke, as it is getting bit thin.
However, One new name has been proposed: former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde, who has been out of work since leaving the Nou Camp in January 2020. Perfect for Levy. He can offer him next to nothing, knowing he will be too desperate to turn it down. Of course, if he fails at Tottenham (another one), it won’t do his reputation any good (then again, it might have already sunk low by the time he comes to us).
There is a little more than two weeks to go until players return to our training facilities, which is earmarked for July 5th; therefore, somebody needs to be in charge, unless Levy is thinking of himself? I’ve heard worse, and nothing surprises me nowadays when it has to do with Levy and the team.
Thoughts; words are starting to fail me where Levy and Tottenham are concerned. We have never had such disorganisation in our history, and I can’t see it getting better any day soon. I also can’t see anything positive about next season—only disaster (at least at this point in time).
All the best and stay safe, Glenn
