He’s gone: Juan Foyth
it has been confirmed that Villarreal had exercised the option to sign Foyth permanently following his successful loan.
As you will know, Foyth showed promise in his first couple of seasons with us, but then he fell out of favour when Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino.
During his loan spell with Villarreal, he demonstrated the talent and the versatility that we knew he had, playing a vital role in the club’s road to Europa League glory. And because of that, Villarreal has activated the €15m (£12.8m) option to permanently land him.
However, some of our fans have gone ape (furious) on social media that he has now left us. They believe that Foyth had been completely mismanaged by certain people at the club.
In 2019-20 season, he had an impressive end to the previous campaign and starred for Argentina in Copa America at right-back. Many of our supporters expected him to be our starting right-back after Trippier’s departure. Still, an injury at the start of the campaign and the subsequent sacking of Pochettino didn’t materialise.
We wish him well at his new club.
