How about a Charity Cup for London teams?
Yes, ourselves, Arsenal and Chelsea are ‘in talks’ to stage ‘Charity Cup’ in a bid to improve their image. But not the other London clubs, I doubt that they want to dirty themselves by hobnobbing with the inferior. Personally; why not all the London clubs? Or is it not just because of fear of associating with the oiks, but a fear of being humiliated by them?
The three leading elite London clubs wish to improve their already tarnished image after the furious backlash over their attempts to throw away their money restraints and wanting to join a European super league of capitalist giants.
These three clubs are currently in talks to hold a pe-season competition in the capital, instead of going abroad for their lollies.
As you all know, or should know (unless you are passing trade), the trio were part of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ elite clubs who were all founder members of the plans, alongside Inter, Milan, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona, to form a selected-European-exclusive-club. Their dumb-ass attempts to break away was met by substantial fan backlash, and all the clubs – aside from Juventus, Madrid and Barcelona – have now pulled out.
Of course, the bottom line was that they were worried that it would affect their sponsorship opportunities.
A report in the Mail said how they wish to rebuild their image by holding a pre-season tournament with the majority of the competition’s income going towards charitable causes.
It is a tradition for top Premier League clubs to go on tours abroad in pre-season. The most popular destinations are the USA and the Far East to raise their much-needed funds.
So, what do you think? Good idea, or not? Personally – even though I know this is a gimmick – I would much prefer they do their friendly tours on UK soil; that way, we, the supporters, get to go. But that is just my view.
