Shkendija v Tottenham Hotspur 19:00 Venue: Tose Proeski Arena
THU 24 SEPT 2020EUROPA LEAGUE – QUALIFYING THIRD ROUND
Luckily for us, we got an extra daybreak, with Orient game being called off. Anyway, we are taking a full-strength squad to North Macedonia for our Thursday’s Europa League third qualifying round tie with Shkendija. The winners of that game will play at the Tottenham Stadium Rostov or Maccabi Haifa next week for a place in the group stages.
Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale are not ready to play yet following their moves from Real Madrid. It is over ten years since we failed to qualify for the group stages of European competition.
The game will be held at the Tose Proeski Arena, the national stadium, in Skopje because Shkendija’s stadium does not meet Uefa’s requirements.
This is Shkendija seventh consecutive season in Europa League qualifying but they have never reached the group stages. They finished third in last season’s shortened Macedonian league.
We have no fresh injury concerns following our win over Southampton at the weekend, but Jose Mourinho may be tempted to make some changes.
Injured: Gareth Bale, Japhet Tanganga
Doubtful: None
Suspended: None
My prediction: Shkendija 0-4 Tottenham
