In out and shake it all about… the transfer window
Giovani Lo Celso: Tottenham sign midfielder from Real Betis on a permanent deal. Yes, we’ve made midfielder Giovani Lo Celso’s loan move from Real Betis permanent, completing a £27.2m transfer. He started off slowly but soon impressed. He has signed until 2025.
As this transfer was announced, it was also announced that Christian Eriksen, the giver of the ball away, is also leaving, to Inter Milan. He cost them £16.9m. For a player that hasn’t been performing on all cylinders we are lucky to get that, plus his contract is up at the end of the season.
As for Lo Celso, he has scored two goals in 20 appearances for Spurs so far this season. A Spurs statement read: “We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to convert the loan of Giovani Lo Celso to a permanent transfer. The midfielder has produced impressive performances after establishing himself in the team following a hip injury which restricted his playing time in the early part of his loan at the club.”
Steven Bergwijn is another one that has signed and will be an essential purchase for us. He completed £27m move from PSV Eindhoven.
Tottenham Hotspur have signed Netherlands forward Steven Bergwijn for £27m from PSV Eindhoven on a contract that will run until 2025.
Bergwijn, 22, has played 16 times for PSV in the Dutch Eredivisie this season, scoring five goals.
He will bolster Mourinho’s options in attack. Bergwijn came through the PSV ranks and made his first-team debut at 17. He scored 31 goals in 149 appearances for the Dutch club and won three league titles.
He has also earned nine caps for the Dutch national side.
“I think it is an amazing move, an amazing club,” Bergwijn told Tottenham’s club website. He added, “When I was a young boy I looked up to the coach, of course Mourinho, and now I play for him. You have to believe in yourself and I know what I can bring to this club and this team – I am good with the ball and I can score. They play good football and that is what I like, to play here is a dream for me. It is an honour.”
With hopefully another player set to join is by the end of the transfer window we could be a force to be reckoned with… hopefully (31st January).
