Tottenham continues to show a keen interest in AS Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour. Although Abdennour extended his contact with Monoco until 2019, he doesn’t seem opposed to a change in clubs. When asked about his thoughts on making a move to Spurs, Abdennour stated,
“Why not? Right now I have to be patient.”
While the signing of Abdennour is not guaranteed, the signing of FC Koln’s center-back, Kevin Wimmer, seems more certain. It’s rumored that Tottenham has agreed to sign Wimmer this summer on a four-year contract.
Tottenham manger, Mauricio Pochettino, interest in Abdennour (age 25) and Wimmer (age 22) is no surprise. It continues to show the way in which Pochettino’s is trying to keep with the young player philosophy as he has shown in the past with his loyalty to Harry Kane and Ryan Mason.
UPDATE:
In a recent interview with Cologne’s Express, when asked about a possible transfer to Tottenham, Kevin Wimmer responded:
“I do not understand why my phone is suddenly overflowing. Of course, there were negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur, but nothing is fixed yet.”
