Corluka out for at least four weeks

Vedran Corluka could return to action at the end of next month. The Croatian was stretchered off during the Champions League win over AC Milan on Tuesday night after being on the receiving end of a dreadful two-footed lunge from midfielder Mathieu Flamini.

There had been fears that Corluka’s season could be over because of the ankle injury he sustained, but the 25-year-old full-back has now revealed he may only be facing around four weeks on the sidelines.

He told Sportske Novosti:

“As we expected when my leg cooled down, everything about my ankle looked worse than just after the game.

“My ankle is swollen. It hurts so much, but the doctors are saying that things are not as bad as it seems.

“Luckily nothing is broken, but I will still be out for at least four weeks.

“I will know for sure how bad it is today (Thursday). When I first saw my ankle, I was sure it would be at least two months, but luckily it is not so bad.”

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was left raging about the tackle and demanded retrospective action from UEFA, but the ruling body confirmed there would be no punishment for Flamini because he was booked by the referee for the challenge.
