Barclays Premier League – 28th Dec 2010 – KO 15:00 – Ground: White Hart Lane

Spurs shrugged off the dismissal of Younes Kaboul to leapfrog above Chelsea into fourth place in the Premier League after seeing off Newcastle United at White Hart Lane.

Chances were few and far between in the first half although Andy Carroll was a nuisance in the air for the Magpies, while United keeper Tim Krul did produce a fine save from Roman Pavlyuchenko to keep the scores level at the break.

Tottenham did take the lead on 57 minutes when England international Aaron Lennon picked the ball up and took on the Newcastle defence before firing into the bottom corner.

With Tottenham in control Kaboul literally lost his head as he was shown a red card for aiming a headbutt in the direction of Cheick Tiote.

Newcastle failed to take advantage and Spurs sealed the three points in the last 10 minutes when Wales star Gareth Bale produced another sublime finish to make the final score 2-0.
