| Spurs will arrive at Villa in confident mood and on a six-match unbeaten run as they bid to do the double over their opponents having beaten them 2-1 at White Hart Lane earlier in the campaign.
Rafael van der Vaart is in line to make his return for Tottenham after making a speedy recovery from a torn hamstring.
Van der Vaart has not played for the last month but was set to make his comeback at Blackpool last weekend only for the game to be called off.
Younes Kaboul is also in contention after a hip problem but midfielders Niko Kranjcar and Jermaine Jenas are struggling to overcome hamstring and ankle problems while captain Ledley King (groin), Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Jamie O’Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) remain sidelined.
Striker Gabriel Agbonlahor is expected to return to strengthen Aston Villa’s attack for the visit of Tottenham.
Agbonlahor is back in full training after a chest infection and is favourite to line-up alongside Emile Heskey up front, with midfielders Marc Albrighton and Nigel Reo-Coker also set for recalls.
Winger Ashley Young could feature despite a persistent ankle ligament problem but namesake Luke Young is doubtful through injury while Stilyan Petrov and Fabian Delph are sidelined until the new year.
