Chelsea planning Modric bid

Chelsea are planning a bid for Luka Modric, according to close friend Zdravko Mamic. Mamic helped Modric make a £16.5m move from Dynamo Zagreb to White Hart Lane in 2008, and the Croatia international has played a key role in Spurs’ transformation from Premier League also-rans to potential title contenders.

Now Mamic, vice-president of Modric’s former club, claims Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti recently told him of his eagerness to land the 25-year-old as he looks to inject new life into their floundering title campaign. Mamic told The Sun:

“I was with Ancelotti for lunch. I was very proud when I heard what he said about Modric. Luka is top of his list, his first pick when it comes to new signings.

“I’m not Modric’s agent, I am just his friend, but I am very proud.

“I don’t want to say anything more because I don’t want to upset my friends at Tottenham.”

  1. Surely any intelligent article might add thgat it’s less likely a move than the likelihood that Carlo Ancelotti won’t still be manager at the end of the season. LOL
