Spurs fought back after Liverpool had capped an impressive first half performance with Martin Skrtel’s 42nd minute.
Heurelho Gomes was made three good saves before he was beaten by Skrtel three minutes before the break. The ball broke loose following a free kick and Liverpool could have doubled their lead had Maxi Rodriguez and Fernando Torres had finished two easy chances before the first half ended.
Spurs should have levelled in the 59th minute when Defoe missed from the penalty spot after David Ngog handled the ball from Gareth Bale’s free kick.
The equaliser came when Luka Modric went on a mazy run, running past 3 Liverpool players in to the box and tried to square it to Peter Crouch, Skrtel slide in and put the ball in his own net.
Lennon completed the victory when he latched onto Peter Crouch’s flick and finished past Pepe Reina for his first goal in a year.
