Benoît Assou-Ekotto

Does anybody know what has happened to Assou-Ekotto. Reportedly he's still a Spurs player, though he wasn't present at the team's photo-shoot and his picture on the official site is from the last season. I know he was banned for a few games for tweeting a supportive message to Nicolas Anelka, but the club is yet to comment on that. He doesn't seem to train with Spurs as I'm yet to see him on any of our training galleries, but at the same time he isn't on the injury list. Also, he hasn't been called up to the Cameroon squad (maybe because of his head-butt at the World Cup). I'm not saying he should play as he's probably unfit, but the whole situation is a bit bizarre.

All I know is what you mention. He is no 32 in our prem squad list, and received a 3 match ban and £50,000 fine in September.
Due to the anti-Semitic nature of his misdemeanour one imagines he will not be playing for us again any time soon.
On a prem footballing level, he was finished some while ago I think.

He has been offered as a free to any club that wants him. However, as nobody has come in then he is still on our books, but not down as one of the 25 (actually they've got two places spare, but he wasn't deemed suitable enough). That doesn't mean he can't be recalled if push turns to shove.

And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I thought he had gone. I haven't read anything about him of late. If he isn't with the club then I don't know why he isn't down to be used?

He's gone, but nobody has picked up on... so he is still free.

I never rated him and it seems nor do other clubs, otherwise there would be a mad rush for his signature. Some you win, some you lose. But I do hope he finds another club. Maybe in the lower divisions a club might be looking for such a player.

BAE has done well for the club. Strange player who didn't seem to be bothered at times, but still put in a good shift. His fall out with one of his Cameroon team mates last summer did it for me. I mean you can't headbutt a fellow team player and not expect some kind of punishment! Seems to have lost the plot in the end!
