JENAS WANTS TO STAY...

bale1Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has revealed he wants to stay and fight for his place at White Hart Lane. Jenas has been linked with a move away from Spurs after failing to hold down a place in Harry Redknapp's side last season. The former Newcastle and Nottingham Forest midfielder endured a difficult campaign last term because of injuries and he is determined to make up for lost time in the new season. "I want to stay at White Hart Lane and fight for my first-team place," Jenas told the News of the World. "I am looking forward to the new season and I am fit and ready."

BELLAMY MOVES A STEP CLOSER?

j-coleTottenham are close to reaching a deal with Manchester City to sign Craig Bellamy, the People reported Sunday. However, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has been told by chairman Daniel Levy he must sell at least one of his fringe players before he can buy the Welsh striker, who is valued at £7million. David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas, Robbie Keane and Alan Hutton are all believed to be candidates for the Tottenham.exit door, although Jenas has said he wants to stay.

KEANE GOING NOWHERE

fabianoA quick line that is sort of related to the talk of Craig Bellamy moving to Tottenham... Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has ruled out letting Robbie Keane leave on loan again following his spell at Celtic last season. "We paid good money for him and to loan him out again wouldn't be a goer," Redknapp is quoted as saying by the Indy.

fabianoAston Villa are set to secure the £8million signature of Tottenham's David Bentley according to reports. The former Arsenal winger signed for Spurs in a £16million deal from Blackburn two seasons ago but has failed to secure a regular first team place at White Hart Lane. Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is bracing himself for a big money bid from Man City for James Milner and sees Bentley as an ideal replacement should Milner make the move to Eastlands.

DJALO INTEREST CONFIRMED

fabianoSporting Lisbon forward Yannick Djalo's agent has claimed Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are interested in signing the Portuguese. It is suggested both Premier League clubs have made offers in the region of £4.2million as they plot for the 2010/11 season. Djalo, 24, is highly rated at Sporting, who are said to be struggling financially and could therefore be open to a lucrative offer. The two clubs (Newcastle and Spurs) are interested," agent Lionel Silva is quoted as saying in the Sunday Sun.

FORLAN HAPPY IN SPAIN

fabianoDiego Forlan insists he is happy at Atletico Madrid and will not be tempted by a move to Tottenham next season. Striker Forlan, a stand-out player for Uruguay at the World Cup this summer, is on the radar of Spurs boss Harry Redknapp. But the 31-year-old former Manchester United man is adamant he will not make a return to the Premier League. "I am very happy in Madrid and I have three years left on my contract with Atletico," Forlan told the Daily Mirror. "I will not go. Now I want to have another season as good or better than the one just completed."
