Spurs have confirmed that they will not be leaving the area when the eventually get the go ahead for their new stadium, after receiving funding pledges from the Mayor of London and Haringey Council.

Those studying best iPad Casinos note how the club have announced that, subject to approval, Haringey will invest £9 million while Boris Johnson has also pledged £18 million.

It will mean that not only do Tottenham get a new stadium that it more suitable than White Hart Lane, but there will also be mass regeneration in the area.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy says the funding is essential to the club’s plans for the future as well as enhancing their ability to deliver a new stadium scheme.

Levy said: “As a major employer and business in the area we are delighted with these commitments from the mayor and Haringey Council.

“We have long said we could only invest in the area if we could see our commitment supported by others and there was a real need to maximise the regeneration benefits and lift the wider area.”

There have been plans for Tottenham to move stadium for some time now, with their 36,000 capacity White Hart Lane stadium no longer suitable for the increased demand for tickets.

Last year the club abandoned plans to move to the Olympic Stadium following the games this summer, with West Ham eventually winning the bid.

The new plans will mean the club get to stay closer to the Tottenham area of London with the Northumberland Development Project (NDP) likely to bring new homes, shops and leisure facilities to the area.

The London Borough of Haringey, where Tottenham are based, has the highest number of job seekers in the city, and the fourth highest in the whole country.

It is much agreed that regeneration is seriously needed to help the area’s recovery from the economic downturn, while it will surely be seen as a major boost to Spurs knowing that they have moved one step close to having a new stadium that will be more suitable to their needs.

Tottenham MP David Lammy said the decision was the “most significant step yet” to help improve the area.

Elsewhere, after the 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic last night, it has been confirmed that Ryan Nelson should be a Tottenham player before long.

After being released by Blackburn, the central defender is all set to agree a move to White Hart Lane with his agent saying: “We settled with Blackburn and have reached agreement with Spurs.”

“We’re just awaiting clearance. It’s for six months, with a one-year option. It all unfolded quickly.”

This is a shrewd signing from Tottenham with the experienced central defender providing valuable cover for the likes of Ledley King and Michael Dawson who have had their injury problems of late.

Tottenham are going to have to make a much better job of West Bromwich Albion than they did of Swansea when the two go head to head tonight.

The defeats of both Manchester sides over the weekend presented Spurs with the ideal opportunity to close the gap on the league leaders at the Liberty Stadium, but in conceding a late equaliser, those looking at betting offers note how they were unable to grasp it.

Of course, West Brom will not be an easy side to beat. They got the equation just right against Manchester City just a couple of weeks ago and took a well-earned point off them. Whether they can do the same against Harry Redknapp’s men remains to be seen.

But this is certainly another great chance to close that gap. A win will take Spurs to within three points with Manchester United, and if City fail to win their game against Liverpool, the top of the table could, unbelievably, be within touching distance.

An early goal is just what Tottenham could do with – it will be something to build on. Their goal difference is comparatively meagre alongside the two Manchester clubs, so why not get the dice rolling with a big win under the lights at White Hart Lane on a Tuesday night? It is time to re-create that magical Champions’ League atmosphere.

The next few Premier League games present a tricky challenge for Spurs in fact. After the West Brom game, they take on a resurgent Everton side who climbed back into the top half of the table at the weekend.

With the addition of Landon Donovan to their ranks, and potentially Jordan Rhodes according to many transfer betting pundits, they could be primed for a big second half to the season.

Then it is Wolves. A must win game for Spurs, but one that will be no dead-cert. Mick McCarthy’s men have been no whipping-boys this season, and in Stephen Fletcher they have a proven goalscorer who will carry a huge threat.

And finally, the biggy. A trip to Manchester City. Having been hammered 5-1 by them earlier in the season, this will be no easy task, especially considering they did not lose at home once during the year 2011.

It all means there is so much riding on this West Brom game for Spurs tonight. Win, and the race is still on. Lose, and their chances could suddenly begin to slip away.

Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested that it is Tottenham who are the best team to watch in the Premier League right now, and believes that they have a very real chance of winning the title come May. Praise indeed from the division’s greatest ever manager.

Spurs currently sit third in the table, with a game in hand. Those who reviews bookmakers note how they find themselves four points ahead of Chelsea who occupy the place just below them, and at the midway stage are comfortably within the Champions’ League qualification positions.

But what of Ferguson’s comments? Could they really spring a surprise and actually win the Premier League? At the start of the season you would have given them no chance. Their star players Gareth Bale and Luka Modric were being linked with moves elsewhere, all pointing towards a possible collapse for the Redknapp dynasty.

Furthermore, they hardly looked to have the most potent of strike forces. Yet, loan signing Emmanuel Adebayor has been prolific for them this season, and has more or less one over the boo boys who struggled to forget his Spurs crushing Arsenal past behind him.

It is true though, Tottenham have been the league’s great entertainers, and have a very real case for suggesting they are now the powerhouse in North London. They have left Arsenal in their wake, and not only that, they have done it in style.

Their win over Norwich is a clear representation of that. Whilst many had their doubts that Spurs could go to Carrow Road and take the three points, they went there and proved them wrong too.

Fair enough, Harry Redknapp’s men were always going to be the favourites in that particular encounter, and so they should have been. But on home territory the Canaries have claimed a few Premier League scalps of their own, as well as having made it a fortress in their previous two promotion campaigns.

They have become a notoriously hard side to beat with their combative, physical style combined with the dynamism that Paul Lambert has instilled. But Spurs were more than a match.

Still, they find themselves seven points adrift of the league leaders, Manchester City. By winning their game in hand they can cut that to four but with United also on the same points, you would have to accept that such a lead is going to be very difficult to close down. They may catch one of the Manchester sides, but can they really hope to close down both?

There is no doubt that Spurs have the confidence and ability within their squad to go on and get over 80 points in the Premier League this season, but the reality is, as Roberto Mancini has pointed out this season – 90 is what will be required this season. Ferguson had the audacity to reply by suggesting United would get 91.

Indeed, mathematically, Tottenham are on course for almost 85 points this season. Last campaign, that would have seen them to a comfortable title win by five clear points – indeed, 14 ahead of Chelsea who finished third. But it seems as though the bar has been raised this season, and Spurs will really have to kick on in the second half of the season if they really are to upset the odds.

Tottenham boss harry Redknapp has reiterated his claim that Tottenham can win the league this season, with the former Portsmouth boss saying it is “not impossible” for Spurs to pip the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City to the title this season.

A run of 11 games unbeaten that took the Lillywhites into the top three ahead of the likes of Chelsea Arsenal and Liverpool had given the Spurs faithful hope that the club could challenge for silverware this season.

A controversial 2-1 defeat against Stoke recently dampened those hopes somewhat, but with the visit of lowly Sunderland to White Hart Lane this weekend bringing with it the hopes they can get immediately back to winning ways coupled with the game in hand they still hold, Redknapp believes a title tilt is still on.

“I’ve never said outright that we would win it (the Premier League) but I will say that it’s definitely not impossible. It’s an open league this year and I think there’s six teams in there that could win it, it’s going to be a tight league.” He told ITV Sport.

Redknapp is expected to delve into the transfer market in January in order to bolster his squad ahead of what is expected to be a testing season, with numerous big names linked with a move to White Hart Lane as their title challenge gathers momentum.

Carlos Tevez is one name Redknapp reportedly remains keen on, but he insists he has made no inquiry for the want away Manchester City man.

“He’s a great player, any club looking for a great player can see he’s one of those that can make a difference to any team…he’s not anyone that we’ve made an enquiry for but anyone would like him.” He commented.

One major issue in any move for the Argentinean would be his astronomical wages, which are rumoured to be around £200,000 while whether Redknapp would want any potential disruptions near his team when they are playing so well remains to be seen.

Gary Cahill remains a target for January and with the Bolton man nearing the end of his contract he would be available relatively cheap, something likely to interest Redknapp greatly.

Spurs have been defensively solid all season (apart from the two defeats against both Manchester clubs early in the season) but with Younes Kaboul about to start his suspension for getting sent off against Stoke and Ledley King and Michael Dawson still some way off fitness, Redknapp could be tempted to bring Cahill in, although Chelsea are also in the race for his signature.

January is definitely set to be a stressful month for everyone, so taking some time out to look at pokerstars games may be the way to go!

Although it is certain that Harry Redknapp will not be influential when it comes to the best odds on euro 2012 matches, he could be involved with England at some point in the future.

Fabio Capello is set to leave his role as England manager after the European Championships next summer and Redknapp is already the favourite to succeed the Italian.

However, after Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy insisted that Redknapp was focused on club matters, the man himself has refused to comment on the speculation.

When asked about his thoughts on becoming England boss, Redknapp said: “I’ve got a great job at Tottenham, I’ve got 18 months left, so I’m just getting on with what I’ve got to do here and I’m loving it.”

“Honestly, the chairman has said his piece. I’ve just got to keep focused on Tottenham which I do anyway.”

“But at the moment I’ve not been offered it and they may have other people in mind. Who knows? I’ve never had any contact with anyone about that job.”

Regardless of whether Redknapp dismisses this speculation or not, it really is important that it is put the back of everyone’s mind between now and the end of the season.

Tottenham have a very important few months ahead of them as they chase silverware and a place in the Champions League. Redknapp has even said that a title challenge isn’t out of the question, so thoughts of England have to be dismissed for now.

Echoing these thoughts, Redknapp responded to reports that he would be the most popular choice of next England manage by saying: “That can change in football. One minute you’re flying but suddenly there’s ups and downs so I don’t carried away.”

“I’m not a person to think about next year or the year after. You start wishing your life away then. The only thing that enters my mind is wanting to get back into the Champions League with Tottenham.”

As for Redknapp’s next task, it will be get three points at home to Sunderland this weekend as Spurs look to recover from last weekend’s defeat to Stoke City.

Tottenham striker Rafael Van Der Vaart has admitted that there is a friendly rivalry between himself and fellow countryman Robin Van Persie as both players find themselves in the middle of a purple patch of goal-scoring form.

After finding the back of the net against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, Van Der Vaart has now scored in five consecutive Premier League games.

Then, Van Persie – who hit a hat-trick against Chelsea at the weekend – is leading the scoring charts with 10 strikes this season.

Referring to the rivalry between the two, Van Der Vaart said: “Robin is going even better. On Saturday he scored three nice goals and yes, it looks like a rivalry.”

“He has scored in every game, me as well, so it’s difficult but I love to see him scoring because he’s a great player and I know him well from the national team.”

“I text him every game. Sometimes I say congratulations but I hope he is not going to continue scoring like he does because it might be a problem for us.”

Despite having the in-form Van Persie in their ranks though, the Tottenham striker is convinced that he and his team will finish ahead of the Gunners this season.

He continued: “We’re better. We’ve won six and had one draw in our last seven games. So no, I’m not afraid of Arsenal. We have the better squad and a bigger squad. There’s a long way to go but we’re better than last season.”

Arsenal may well have improved of late – they have won eight of their last nine games across all competitions – but Spurs are three points above their rivals with a game in hand, so those giving out sporting tips note how they have the upper hand in North London right now.

Van Der Vaart – who scored the opener in the 2-1 win over the Gunners earlier this month – is hoping this continues of course and he has even set his sights on challenging the likes of Manchester City.

Speaking about Roberto Mancini’s men, he said: “They are winning easily but they have a lot of egos so maybe that’s going to be a problem. When you play for a big team and they buy a lot of good players, a lot of players are also unhappy.”

Next up for Tottenham and Van Der Vaart is a Europa League game against Rubin Kazan – of which a lot of betting money will be placed on a Spurs win – followed by a trip to Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he wants to keep hold of Emmanuel Adebayor next season- but the Togolese striker must take a pay cut if he is to stay in...

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he wants to keep hold of Emmanuel Adebayor next season- but the Togolese striker must take a pay cut if he is to stay in North London.

Adebayor has impressed during his short time at White Hart Lane, finding the net three times in four league games since his summer loan move from Manchester City, and Redknapp has revealed that while he is keen to keep the former Arsenal forward at the club, his wages could be a stumbling block.

“If Emmanuel maintains his current form I would love to keep him,” Redknapp said.

“But his wages are going to be a major stumbling block, that’s for sure.

“I have no idea how much we are paying towards his wages at the moment as the chairman [Daniel Levy] deals with those issues but I suspect they are massively subsidised by City.

“The only way we can realistically get a deal done is if Emmanuel is prepared to take a substantial pay-cut and put his football before money.” He added.

Adebayor has endured an unsettled career so far having worn the Football Shirts of different clubs already, and is unlikely to return to Man City after Roberto Mancini bought in Sergio Aguero over the summer to join the likes of Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli and Carloz Tevez in the striking department.

The 27-year-old recently stated he had fallen in love with Tottenham and their fans since joining the club despite previously playing for Arsenal and scoring the goals during a loan spell with Real Madrid that knocked Spurs out of the Champions League, and said the fans have warmed to him.

“I knew the fans already love me because that is what they are looking for – players to score goals,” he commented.

“Hopefully I will keep the hard work going.”
